See this is my point. I would be comfortable losing to a decent team or even an average team especially when our horns are prepared, motivated, and play with some heart.
Is that what you saw Saturday? I didnt.
I mean seriously instead of being a Strong apologist and sympathizer all the damn time answer this. Is it too much to ask for our longhorns to play competitively against door mat teams and not be shut out by them? Well?
Point being I was upset after the ND game and all of you guys said
"Listen DMAC that ND team is probably one of the best in CFB and their OL is the best we will see all year."
Now we get our asses kicked by a f##king door mat team. I mean shut out. Come On Man. Shit happens with young teams but the finding excuses for poor coaching and team preparation and game plan is riding a bit thin at 8-12 in 1.5 years.
One more question why is this team 0-11 when the other teams scores first? Is that the players fault as well? Or is Macks fault? Cause according to you Strong is completely and utterly immune to all f##king blame even though he is the head coach.
I dont care who our QB is, or who the OC is, or even who the HC is as long as this team is prepared and motivated. We saw what this team is capable of vs OU and I was impressed but vs Iowa State that was a disaster.
If we lose to Kansas its official im done with this entire coaching staff.
Good post, good points.
I differ somewhat. I would have been more upset at a loss to OU than I am about ISU. Who can't get up for OU? But truth be told, I'm not comfortable losing to anyone, anytime. But that's just not who we are right now.
Strong is not immune to blame here. I agree that the team should have been more prepared for what they encountered. Hell, I'm a stinking landscaper and even I saw the buzz saw coming. All I did was watch the second half of their Baylor game and saw enough. That's when they put the Lanning kid in who proceeded to direct four scoring drives against a very good Baylor defense.
So I fault Strong for not responding to the lack of jr/senior leadership on this team and BEING the one who stressed what a set up game this was about to be. I played HS ball for Dennis Alexander. We played 1-8 teams that he spent a week convincing us was about to explode. By the time game time rolled around, we thought we were playing the NY Giants. He wouldn't allow us to take anyone lightly, even if he had to lie his ass off to make us believe.
If blame is what you're looking to assign, all I can offer you is my opinion. I'm no expert. I think its a combination of the things you've mentioned. And I think Strong has a part in that.
I just believe in him as a head coach. I still think he's our guy. Do I think changes need to be made? Sure I do. But what kind of OC did you expect Strong to hire at this time of year? Norvell was the obvious, safe choice to take over. It is what it is.
All of that boring shit said, I am with you on the last sentence of your post all the way. We lose to Kansas, no one will type the word "fire" more than me. There would be no reason under the sun to lose to KU.
