Its time to fire Strong

I posted this in another thread and it belongs here too. I'm an optimist but there's no way to see any positives from last night's game from the offensive side of the ball. The D held their own for awhile but even they gave up big plays on 3rd and long too many times.

Bad night for Texas football and I believe it's official now, Charlie is on the hot seat.

I know you meant Sedric Flowers; but thanks for the blast from the past regarding seldom used WR Montrell Flowers--retired after finding out he only had one kidney after taking a shot to the low back in a home game and sent to ER.

Yes, agree with your post-- let's not be happy after losing to a crummy team upperclass "leader".
LOL Brain fart.  Yea Flowers the inept OL.

Calm down people. Did you really think winning two games were suddenly going to make us Alabama?

• We still don't have an OC

• We are still starting two true freshmen on the OL (and the other three are not great, either).

• We are still relying on a ton of freshmen on defense.

• We still don't have a TE.

• We still don't have a leader at QB, IMO.

I'm as frustrated as anybody. I quit last night's game after one quarter because I knew where it was going. The young pups got frustrated and they don't know how to rebound.

We will get there. Or we won't. Now is not the time to panic and blow up.

IMO give Strong enother year. That said the loss is mostly on the coaches. Team was not ready to play.

Offemse play calling was bad. Would not stick with what was working. And if you are going to pass forget the side ways and throw it downfield.

Of course I didnt think we were going win a NC, but I dont expect this team to come out with a lackluster attitude and get shut out by a door mat team.  This Iowa State team is not a TCU or ND.  Hell even Kansas scored on them

Yep, this was a bad loss, no spinning that fact.

Losing to Iowa St was the beginning of the end for Mack. Was it the beginning of the end for Strong too?

like DMAC was saying but we didnt just lose to a doormat team, we got SHUT OUT by a doormat team. A team that allowed Kansas to score on them. I think i saw that we had 37 yards in the air, WTF. How the hell do you find it acceptable to allow your playcaller call the same 8 plays the entire game and not have a clue how to adjust. I wonder at what point if it even happened did Strong or Norvell or Watson say hmmmm this run to the outside and throwing to the sideline is not working. Not to mention when the hell are they going to ask them selves the question if Gray, Duke, Doyle, Flowers, Bonney deserve to be taking away snaps from the backups, since they are god awful. I dont give a damn about upperclassmen leadership, THE ONLY THING THAT IS GOING TO LEAD THIS TEAM IS MAKING PLAYS, I DONT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY IN THE HUDDLE, LOCKER ROOM, CONFERENCE ROOM, AND PRACTICE FIELD..................START MAKING PLAYS.

now that im done with that rant, when are those questions going to be asked because that obviously has not happened 8 games into the season.

While I partially agree with your entire post its the WAY we lose.  This team didn't lose this game; they never even played in the game.  This team and staff confuses me because its either looking promising or dismal from week to week.

Ok, so lets fire him and hire someone who loses in a way we're more comfortable with?

We have a QB who won't throw a downfield pass. We have a center and guard who need counseling and every opposing team knows you can get to Heard if you just walk through the 1 gap because neither Flowers or Doyle are even going to look at you.

Once again, this is what you get with a freshman laden team. On the road, at night, against a team with its back to the wall (losing to Texas would have eliminated them from bowl contention) that had just found it's own Heard and it's own Foreman? I told you guys they were in the same mindset we were in just after the OU win.

Seriously, I don't mean to come across the wrong way here. I'm not happy or satisfied with what I saw yesterday. I'm quite disappointed. But I don't throw the baby out with the bath water. We just need to be patient a while longer.

Mack didn't take the program down overnight. It won't be rebuilt overnight either. Some coaches are lucky enough to land in a situation where there are players ready to play and coaching has been the problem. Some coaches have schemes that make average players look good. Neither of those are situations that apply here. We were left with an OL from hell and zilch in the QB dept. Those two things continue to be our problems.

ZERO points

I for one am glad UT didn't score at the end. I want everyone to see just how bad it was.

Thats the problem i have, i understand that Mack screwed this coaching staff. But as you said some coaches need to scheme that will make an average player look good. I did not see any attempt to scheme or make adjustments in the game. If it doesnt work in the 1st half then go to the backup plan, if you are getting paid 500k plus then you sure as hell better have a backup plan. Our coaches didnt do that, that is unacceptable. You might as well had me as the OC yesterday, which should never have to be said.

The last thing i want is for our program is to turn into Nebraska or Miami. (title contending program that never gets it together and then is forever dismissed, i dont want to hear about money, boosters, facility.)

RECRUIT RECRUIT RECRUIT..... That's where everything is now. We have to add talent and fast. Our freshmen this year are good players. Too many of them were forced to see action. It would have been nice to bring them along slow. I would even bring in any JUCOS that could help immediately. By most likely not making a bowl, charlie and staff need to be relentless on the recruiting trail.

Neb and Miami would kill this Horn team.

See this is my point.  I would be comfortable losing to a decent team or even an average team especially when our horns are prepared, motivated, and play with some heart.

Is that what you saw Saturday?  I didnt.

I mean seriously instead of being a Strong apologist and sympathizer all the damn time answer this.  Is it too much to ask for our longhorns to play competitively against door mat teams and not be shut out by them?  Well?

Point being I was upset after the ND game and all of you guys said

"Listen DMAC that ND team is probably one of the best in CFB and their OL is the best we will see all year."

Now we get our asses kicked by a f##king door mat team.  I mean shut out.  Come On Man.  Shit happens with young teams but the finding excuses for poor coaching and team preparation and game plan is riding a bit thin at 8-12 in 1.5 years.

One more question why is this team 0-11 when the other teams scores first?  Is that the players fault as well?  Or is Macks fault?  Cause according to you Strong is completely and utterly immune to all f##king blame even though he is the head coach.

I dont care who our QB is, or who the OC is, or even who the HC is as long as this team is prepared and motivated.  We saw what this team is capable of vs OU and I was impressed but vs Iowa State that was a disaster.

If we lose to Kansas its official im done with this entire coaching staff.

A good coach could get the most out of HIS players.

I agree. But I think sometime we ask them to make gold out of straw. Sedrick Flowers is probably a very nice guy. But I have no idea how he became a college football offensive guard. Well, yea, I do. Mack put him there.

He was pulled out of the game and rightfully so only cut up and joke around post game with an Iowa State player.  Losing doesnt bother some of these guys.
