Something was definitely wrong with Ewers. I’ve noticed in some games he has a blank stare in his eyes, I saw it often his first year and he had that look on Saturday.
I use to read it as he didn’t know what was going on around him, like he just wasn’t real bright. In some games, when he’s playing well he doesn’t have that look. He’s interacting with teammates and showing more emotion.
My dime store psychologist take is he’s a natural introvert and he over analyzes himself internally. In games like he had Saturday he can’t get out of his own head and almost shuts down.
Sark talks about his temperament as a positive, not getting too high or low during games, but I think he just doesn’t express it outwardly. I think Sark knows that’s what he does and he pulled him to try and snap him out of it. It was reported that Quinn was upset about being pulled, as he should be, but he didn’t seem upset to me. I’d like to see him throw his helmet or do something to show some emotion.
On a different note, wasn’t there a video of Ewers back in HS throwing the ball the length of the field? Is his arm too strong to throw anything catchable down field? It’s remarkable how poorly he throws deep.
