JB, when you say UC do you mean Cincinnati or Colorado? I assume you mean Cincinnati.

I would like this model of expansion. If we empower CSU we begin to put pressure on Colorado and the PAC.

It would be nice to see another conference be considered the elbow of conferences.

I like to think that Texas and OU are positioning themselves to leave the conference-together. I want the Texas v OU matchup to continue. It is one of the great ones. I know, yada, yada, yada, but I speak the truth.

I will say something else that many of you will disagree with. I think Texas and OU should head to the SEC as soon as we can without giving up all Tier 1 and 2 revenue, as a package deal, if we can get an agreement that we have equal sharing and full privileges when we join, as part of the package deal.

That's my highly controversial input.

No doubt the SEC makes the most sense athletically & geographically and I can't say that I'd be disappointed with that outcome. The SEC gave aggy and mizzery full shares their first year. Do you think we'd accept a lesser deal? No way in hell. 

But, for FWIW, rumor is our administration does not view the SEC favorably. Personally, I don't ever wanna see UT in the PAC (late night games) or the B1G (rust belt). ACC? Maybe, but I think their dance card is full unless ND joins full-time which they're contractually obligated to do IF they join a conference the next 20 years.

Call me sentimental, but I'd rather make things work in the Big 12 or 14. I enjoy our in-state rivalries and games with both OK schools. BYU will also be a must-see game if/when they join.

The hatred for the SEC among the BMDs is deep. The younger BMDs see things more like we do, but they also understand why we can't.

The SEC is a freakin' circus free-for-all. And if Texas joins, there will be trouble. The NCAA would have to change many things to 1) Become what they were meant to be, or 2) just organize the cheating. If it's the latter, college football is dead.

There's a delicate balance that keeps amateur athletics remaining amateur. IMO, if there's a Texas-SEC confrontation, that balance is gone unless Texas can win that confrontation. Texas would have to decide if its going to try to keep its integrity intact or is ready to get its hands dirty.

Call me crazy, but thats how I see it.

The ACC. I just don't get it. Everybody is thinking with their TV sets or something. What makes the SEC great is that it contains a lot of football crazy states/universities. It was a great conference way back when I was watching Herschel as a freshman without all the hype it receives now.

With the rise of Texas I think the prestige of the BIG 12/14 will be raising all ships in the conference.

Notice, even when OU is up and UT is mediocre that OU does not have the ability to bring respect to the conference.

Once UT gets it going, the conference will be viewed much differently.

NORTH: KU, KSU, ISU, WVU, BYU, CSU, UC

Maybe that makes more sense to most people? I just think most teams will want to split the five TX schools to ensure they get at least one game in fertile recruiting ground. I actually like this arrangement better because we play all the teams I care about annually.

Houston, we still have a problem. . . the two best teams are still residing in the same division. Texas and OU.

Other than KSU and maybe BYU, there isn't even a moderate heavy weight in the North. So we end up being the same big 12 that had a conference game that was dominated by one division where the North winner was nothing more than a sacrificial lamb. Heck, I'm convinced part of the reason Nebraska left was the perception of them leading the "weak" side of the Big 12.

Well, SHA, I am not willing to give up Texas/OU to make some northern team happy. The one and only time that I changed my chemo schedule last year was that weekend. The first infusion was the preceding Saturday so that the next could be the Friday night before OU. My bil drove me to Dallas early Saturday to meet my daughter and sil for Texas/OU.

It was worth it! A terrific game, with a terrific atmosphere. And, yes, I had to take a couple of nausea pills during the game-probably because of all of the jumping around I did. But, it was worth every minute.

It's not up to OU and Texas to continually prop us the other schools. They need to pony up and build up their teams-the right way. That may sound harsh but they get an equal split from the conference. They need to put it to good use, not blame big, bad Texas or big, bad OU for mistreatin' 'em.

Sorry, but the whining is getting old. They are going to gripe no matter what. Put BYU in their division. That will give them something to complain about.

Java - you may as well give up on UT leaving the conference.  It's not happening.  The GOR insures this.

It's better to be involved about who we will add to the conference, as we surely will and in the very near future.

My personal feelings about UH is they add nothing to conference - NOTHING.  Them being endorsed by UT (and this is very disappointing to me) is nothing more than political maneuvering.  Fertitta must have some very close friends connected to UT.

You are right about the coattail riders in the conference, but they exist in other conferences as well.  Even the SEC.  The difference is whether they add or subtract from the conference coffers.  In this respect, the SEC coattailers bring the goods.  This is true even in the B1G, but not so in the Big 12 or the PAC or the ACC.  And I am only talking about football.

If the rivalry were to receive special status allowing them to schedule each other during the regular season each year, I would prefer they play in different divisions. That way we might see a rematch in the BIG 12 championship game.

I think the special exemption for the Red River Shootout is the least the other 8 (for now) should concede to the cornerstones of the conference.

ESPN and FOX are angry? Too bad. They should've put more thought into our "pro rata increase" provision before finalizing our TV contracts.

This also reads to me like they'd be reluctant to extend our GOR if we add G5 schools.
