As Texas Longhorns baseball begins to retool for the 2026 season,
they have been busy in the transfer portal. On Thursday, they added one of the best outfielders available in Jack Moroknek. The Indiana native is coming off a stellar season with Butler.
In 54 games during the 2025 campaign, Moroknek posted a .372 batting average while driving in 57 runs. He also showed some power with 35 extra-base hits, including 18 home runs. With the Brebeuf Jesuit High School product leading the way, Butler's offense was a tough matchup.
Due to his play, Moroknek has been adding to his trophy case over the last few weeks. He was selected to the 2025 All-BIG EAST Second Team on Tuesday. He led the conference in total bases with a program record 153. He also ranked second in the BIG EAST in hits and home runs.
While Moroknek was an on-base machine, he also showed that he could make adjustments. He only struck out 41 times which was ten less than the season before. His improved plate discipline helped raise his on-base percentage by thirty points. That is partly why Moroknek was one of the most popular names in the portal.
Although the Longhorns will keep their eye on the portal, Moroknek should provide a significant boost. He has shown he can get on base and hit for power. Through his first 109 games at the college level, he owns a .350 batting average. If he can build on that in Texas, Moroknek will quickly become a fan favorite.
The start of the 2026 campaign is still months away, but the Longhorns aren't wasting any time adding elite talent and now have one less roster spot to worry about.
