We have added a redshirt junior from Butler in an outfielder Jack Moroknek. He can play all 3 outfield positions. This past season he hit .327 with 18 homers, 1 triple, and 16 doubles. If he doesn't get drafted and signed, this will be a nice pickup.

So far -

Wichita State 1B Josh Livingston - .284 average, 15 HRs, 48 RBIs, .403 on-base percentage, .555 slugging percentage.

Butler OF Jack Moroknek - .372 average, 18 HRs, 57 RBIs ,16 doubles with a 1.145 OPS.

I saw he is a possible 7th-10th round draft pick. That is around 200-300k in slotted draft value.

It looks like he was incredibly strong at the plate to start the year and maybe cooled a bit in the last few months.

If SHA finds a picture of Jack's commitment, that would be great. I'm sure the social media for the baseball team has put 1 out, just haven't seen it.

Probably need 1 catcher, 2-3 pitchers, and maybe 1-2 more infielders from the portal of they are good fits. Plus, hold on to the HS guys, there is 1 pitcher to definitely watch for in the draft from the HS class.

There could be a couple of portal guys visiting this weekend. Not certain.

Texas can’t do or say anything until he signs.

Here is his post

Longhorns baseball adds talented outfielder out of the transfer portal

As Texas Longhorns baseball begins to retool for the 2026 season, they have been busy in the transfer portal. On Thursday, they added one of the best outfielders available in Jack Moroknek. The Indiana native is coming off a stellar season with Butler.

In 54 games during the 2025 campaign, Moroknek posted a .372 batting average while driving in 57 runs. He also showed some power with 35 extra-base hits, including 18 home runs. With the Brebeuf Jesuit High School product leading the way, Butler's offense was a tough matchup.

Due to his play, Moroknek has been adding to his trophy case over the last few weeks. He was selected to the 2025 All-BIG EAST Second Team on Tuesday. He led the conference in total bases with a program record 153. He also ranked second in the BIG EAST in hits and home runs.

While Moroknek was an on-base machine, he also showed that he could make adjustments. He only struck out 41 times which was ten less than the season before. His improved plate discipline helped raise his on-base percentage by thirty points. That is partly why Moroknek was one of the most popular names in the portal.

Although the Longhorns will keep their eye on the portal, Moroknek should provide a significant boost. He has shown he can get on base and hit for power. Through his first 109 games at the college level, he owns a .350 batting average. If he can build on that in Texas, Moroknek will quickly become a fan favorite.

The start of the 2026 campaign is still months away, but the Longhorns aren't wasting any time adding elite talent and now have one less roster spot to worry about.

Dylan Volantis was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-American 1st team. He is the only freshman on the 1st team. Galvan was named to 3rd team of ABCA/Rawlings All-American team. The teams were announced earlier today.

RE: Texas softball. . . from Blake Munroe (OTF):

- I can confirm a Sports Illustrated report that Texas Tech did reach out to certain Texas players about transferring. Those calls were not returned.

We have added another infielder in Georgia State Kaleb Freeman. He is most played at 2nd base, but also has played in RF and as a DH. In 2025 he hit .349, with 16 homers and and 28 doubles. Alomg with 15 SB. He also had 46 RBIs. Has an OPS of 1.260.

A few notes on the latest portal guy, Kaleb Freeman. He played in the SEC in 2024 with Auburn. He had maybe 20 at-bats for them. Then portal to Georgia State. This season he had around 220 at-bats. He also, had 61 walks, but did have 50 or so strikeouts.

He will be a senior next season. He is listed as being a switch hitter. Throws right handed. A couple of player profiles have him listed as a catcher, 2nd baseman, and outfielder. But haven't found anything of him actually playing as a catcher. Mostly 2nd and RF.

Should be interesting to see how the staff uses the 3 guys from the portal with the core group coming back and the incoming freshmen as fielding needs to improve next season. Then need to see what the staff can get for pitching out of the portal with the pitchers returning and the incoming freshmen pitcher.

Are you disappointed in any of the selections so far? Whats your feeling here?
