Well, the 4.5 is a bit inflated (or deflated) from the 4.75 he ran at the camp in Houston this summer.

Nonetheless, I won't quibble about this. Welcome to the 40

Standings – Texas moved further away from Georgia but stayed in 5th. Still a long way from cracking the top 4 unless of course we flip the kid from Aledo, a 5-star.

Aggy is now back in 16th place because our addition was their subtraction this time. Sweet aggy tears.
At some point he ran a 4.69, not sure if hand or laser. Hope he can still improve his speed. Didn’t know he got to 6-5, great if he did bc that’s a direct replacement for CJ. Very similar measurable. I need to go back and watch his film.

Im hoping for another 5* from Arizona, that would really Ring my Bell

Measurables and speed similar to LJH.  Looks like he catches fairly well.

Commitment 101: Texas flips four-star wide receiver Troy Omeire from Texas A&M

Texas fans received a gift Friday morning when four-star wide receiver Troy Omeire flipped his pledge from Texas A&M to the Longhorns. It continues a trend of Tom Herman running circles around Jimbo Fisher in the 2020 recruiting class. Texas’ class now consists of 20 members and ranks fifth in the nation. Jimbo Fisher’s class now ranks 16th with 16 commitments. Herman proved the turtle can win the recruiting race.

Omeire is a  6-3.5, 210-pound product of Fort Bend Austin. He ranked 16th on the 2020 Fabulous 55. The two-time first-team all-district selection is the 32nd-ranked wide receiver in the nation, per 247Sports composite rankings. Omeire is the second wide receiver commitment in the 2020 class, joining Temple’s Quentin Johnston. Omeire originally picked Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M on June 8.

Skill set: Omeire is an athletic freak of nature. He’s still raw as a football player and wide receiver, but the physical tools are there for him to become a star in college football. Omeire already looks like a college wide receiver with plenty of bulk to handle duties outside of catching the football like blocking on the edge.

Omeire achieves success on pure athleticism and instinct. The sky’s the limit for the big wide receiver once he receives some real tutelage as the position. The big-bodied wide receiver recorded 85 catches for 1,546 yards and 21 touchdowns in his past two varsity seasons.

Immediate impact: It’s not easy for wide receivers to make an immediate impact as a true freshman, especially at one of the outside receiver positions. Even Collin Johnson struggled to see the field and find consistency early in his tenure. We watched guys like Brennan Eagles and Malcolm Epps used sparingly as true freshman despite high recruiting rankings. Omeire is likely to follow the same path as Eagles. Expect Omeire to see the field as a true freshman before making a bigger impact as he reaches his second year on campus.

Fitting into the program: It’s no secret that Tom Herman and his coaching staff own the Houston recruiting streets. That wasn’t as true in Fort Bend County, long-time Aggie country south of Houston. Omeire’s flip is a big success for Texas in many ways. One, Omeire is a fantastic player and the type of wide receiver the Longhorns love. Two, he’s a true recruiting victory over Texas A&M in Fort Bend County, home to numerous FBS athletes on a yearly basis.

Recruiting at the position: Texas didn’t need more than two wide receivers in the 2020 class and that’s exactly where the Longhorns sit after Omeire’s flip from Texas A&M. Omeire and Johnston give Texas two four-star talents with long, athletic frames. If Texas does push for a third wide receiver in the class, California product LV Bunkley-Shelton and Rockwall’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba appear to be the ones left on the radar.

Bijan Robinson runs wild as Salpointe again wins big

Entering Friday night, Bijan Robinson needed 360 yards to pass Tucson icon Ka'Deem Carey for career rushing yards.
Carey's record is safe for another week, but Robinson is now less than 200 yards away after amassing 170 rushing yards on 10 carries in Salpointe Catholic's 54-8 win over visiting Glendale Cactus (2-1).
The University of Texas-bound running back led the Lancers with four touchdowns. He scored three times on the ground to go with a 39-yard reception in the second quarter.

"The offensive line, gotta give them credit for what they do and what they do for me. Our downfield blocking from our (wide) receivers is second to none," Robinson said.
Two weeks ago, Robinson rushed for a school-record 430 yards and five touchdowns in a statement victory over one of the top Phoenix-area Class 4A teams, Goodyear Desert Edge. Against Cactus, Salpointe Catholic did most of its damage through the air behind senior quarterback Jackson Bolin's performance. Bolin completed 9 of 13 passes for a career-high 200 yards and three touchdowns.
"I thought Jackson Bolin did a nice job of distributing the ball tonight and we had a lot of guys touch the ball," Salpointe Catholic head coach Dennis Bene said. "We just want teams to defend the whole field. Sometimes it can get too predictable with Bijan. ... We're just trying to spread it out and have the defense cover from sideline-to-sideline. I thought they had to do that tonight."

Bolin's top target: Ohio State commit Lathan Ransom, who hauled in five catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Ransom is being recruited as a safety, but the two-way standout is more involved in the offense than his previous two years on varsity and has emerged as the Lancers' top wide receiver.
"I have a bigger part in the offense this year, and Bijan is the hardest running back to stop in the whole nation. A lot of people key on him and it gives other player opportunities to make plays," Ransom said.

Through three games, the Lancers are averaging 61.7 points per game. Now 3-0, Salpointe Catholic will have six games left on its schedule after El Paso Del Valle cancelled last week's game so the Lancers only have nine games for 2019. Up next, the Lancers will face Tucson High on the road.
"We're getting there. We're heading into the right direction," Bene said. "We're not where we need to be, but we're in the right direction."
The lucky number for Robinson heading into that game is 190. If he rushes for 190 yards, he passes Carey for career yards (5,701). Robinson also needs 367 yards to become the all-time 4A leading rusher in Arizona.
"It'd be a great accomplishment for me. Me and Ka'Deem train a lot and he's always telling me to 'Kill the record,'" Robinson said. "He always gives me advice how to handle myself. Breaking his record would be a blessing for me, but it'd be a celebration for the whole team."

2020 athlete Dajon Harrison from Hutto will be at today's game. Will probably get an offer. Very speedy, quick, athletic

Rival Views: Which head coaches are the best recruiters?

Adam Gorney and Mike Farrell

Nick Saban (AP Images)

1. Nick Saban — is there any doubt? With Urban Meyer gone this is a no-brainer, and even with Meyer it was a debate. Alabama is always in the mix for the top recruiting class in the country and he led LSU to the No 1 class as well. No one can compete with that.

2. Dabo Swinney — The job Swinney does is amazing because he still doesn’t allow commits to take visits and he never loses kids to decommitments. If the Tigers were able to take bigger classes he’d have a No. 1 class by now and 2020 should be his first.

3. Kirby Smart — Back-to-back No 1 classes is no joke and Smart has taken Georgia recruiting to the next level with national pull. It’s a toss-up between Swinney and Smart for me.

4. Tom Herman — Herman may be an odd choice since he’s only been at Texas for a couple of years, but the job he did at Houston was exceptional and now he’s dominating the state at Texas. And he’s just getting started.

5. Jimbo Fisher — Over Lincoln Riley and others? Yes, because you have to include the Florida State years as well and he did an amazing job there. Now Texas A&M is a recruiting power in one of the most competitive regions in the country.

Kirby Smart (AP Images)

1. Nick Saban - Alabama had an incredible run of team recruiting titles over the past decade and the Crimson Tide can basically pick and choose five-stars and highly-rated four-stars to put in their class. Saban is a great closer, his staff targets and aggressively goes after big-time winners, and every recruiting class is loaded. He and offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian were responsible for getting four-star QB

Bryce Young
to flip over the weekend from USC and that’s just another big recruiting win for Saban.

2. Kirby Smart - Smart is right there, though. Maybe the best head coach recruiter in the last two cycles, Smart is putting together a team to not only compete for SEC titles but to win national championships. The 2018 class was arguably one of the best ever in the history of Rivals with eight five-stars and then three other players who were on the cusp of that ranking. Georgia has won back-to-back recruiting titles and the Bulldogs’ quarterback recruiting is so good that they lost two five-stars in

Jacob Eason
and

Justin Fields
to transfer and still have a potential first-rounder in

Jake Fromm
 starting.

3. Dabo Swinney - He gets players to campus early, gets them to fall in love with the place for reasons on and off the field, gets their commitments and then there is very little drama with those prospects for the remainder of the recruiting cycle. There is a lot to love about Clemson but a lot of elite athletes are picking the Tigers over Georgia, Alabama, the Florida schools and other places. This recruiting class could be epic as well as there is a very real possibility Clemson could land the top four prospects in 2020.

4. Jimbo Fisher - The job Fisher did with the 2019 class of in-state prospects was incredibly impressive as he landed five-star defensive end

DeMarvin Leal
, who could be a future star, along with fellow five-stars

Kenyon Green
 and

Erick Young
. Others had longer relationships with those players but it didn’t matter because Fisher is a terrific recruiter and people want to play for him. There is always talk that A&M is the sleeping giant nationally and despite the outcome of the game this past weekend by losing to Auburn, I believe it. If Fisher keeps recruiting so well, watch out in the coming years.

5. Lincoln Riley - I thought about putting LSU coach Ed Orgeron in the fifth spot but I decided to go with Riley because he’s not only a genius offensive mind but he’s in a tough place geographically to recruit and he still does an extraordinary job. Recently, Riley has done the best job in the transfer portal - which is a vital place to own recruiting now - by getting former Alabama quarterback

Jalen Hurts
to Norman among others. Players see huge results on the field so recruiting sometimes takes care of itself in many ways with Riley but he’s still excellent at what he does.

Word is, there is indeed reason for hope, as Contractor earlier pointed to, with a certain 5 star DB out of Arizona. Despite his commitment elsewhere, we have remained in contact and it has to a small degree, proved fruitful. Said commit will be visiting Oregon on Oct. 11 and will visit Texas again, this time an OV.

If cards are played right, this could be the second biggest get of the class.

Right now, there's reason for hope and thats all.

IT reporting CB Ethan Pouncey of Winter Park, FL will miss the rest of his senior season with a labrum injury.

Also from IT, ATH Kelvontay Dixon (brother of Keaontay Ingram) of Carthage was spotted at the game on Saturday night.

Carrington started following him recently, but difficult to say if he'll have a spot in the class with WR LV Bunkley-Shelton looking like your take at slot and there only being a few scholarships left for the senior class.

I've been told Dixon is going to flip and LVB-S will never take that visit here.

No doubt in my mind Dixon will flip if given the "go ahead" to do so, but that'd be a premature move by the staff right now even if Bunkley-Shelton already told them he's not coming.

Dixon can be had late, and the staff is banking on having a great season which would only continue their hot recruiting momentum.
