That is the key. Getting the coaching hire right next time if Strong does not work out.
So it was perhaps hyperbole when you posted "If Strong does not win in 2016 the UT program is going to lose entire decade. Like I said we are back in the 80's/90's era. "

To what or whom does "6figs" refer?
Taylor Hamm - writer for the Texas A&M 247 recruiting site and uber aggy fan-boy.

Somewhere there is a link to a post from a guy who went to high school with Hamm and was in a facebook group with him.  At some point lil Hamm started getting made fun of and in typical Hamm'ster fashion he lost his f##king mind and started posting ridiculous insults.  One of the things Hamm posted was that he didn't give a shit what they thought because he was making 6 figures and they were all assholes.   Everyone in that group started calling him '6figs' and that nickname has made its way to Texas message boards.

Thanks Hipho. Hilarious.

Not really because I have no trust in the administration to get the hire right and I they will probably allow Strong to hang around going 7-5 and 8-4 for  a while and by then recruiting will be a shit show.

Speaking of 6figs he said today that the Shark was ready to commit to aggie at the UA game but decided to hold off.

It's funny because Texas people think he's coming to UT and A&M and ND guys think he's going there. To be honest I wouldn't be too upset if he didn't sign here, we have good depth at LB

Recruiting rankings don't matter only if you don't want to win national championships. Where is K-state, TCU, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Arkansas? I know where. Not winning championships. Sorry sir your argument is 100% wrong.

1995 Nebraska (#15 in 1993,#5 in 1995)

1996 Florida (#6 in 1993, #2 in 1995)

1997 Nebraska/Michigan (Nebraska #5 in 1995 and number #9 in 1996 Michigan: #4 in 1994, #7 in 1995, #8 in 1996, #4 in 1997)

1998 Tennessee (#7 in 1998, #5 in 1997, #3 in 1996)

1999 Florida State (#5 in 1998, #1 in 1997, #5 in 1996)

2000 Oklahoma (#13 in 2000, and #25 in both 1997 and 1998 Rivals) *OU is the only program without a top ten class to win the title in Rivals history. But it did have 3 top 25 classes

2001 Miami (#2 in 2001, #9 in 2000, #8 in 1999)

2002 Ohio State (#7 in 2002, #4 in 2000, #2 in 1999)

2003 LSU/USC (LSU #1 class in 2003, #4 in 2001 USC #3 in 2003, #14 in 2000, #21 in 2001)

2004 USC (#3 class in 2003, #1 class in 2004)

2005 Texas (#1 class in 2002, #15 class in 2003 with only 18 recruits, which averaged highest star rating in country, #18 class in 2004 -- only signed 15) If Texas had signed 20 players in either of these classes, they would have ranked in the top five. The #1 class in 2002 was simply too large, with over 30 players).

2006 Florida (#2 in 2003, #10 in 2004, #2 in 2006)

2007 LSU (#1 in 2003, #1 in 2004, #7 in 2006, #4 in 2007)

2008 Florida (#2 in 2006, #1 in 2007, #3 in 2008)

2009 Alabama (#10 in 2007, #1 in 2008, #1 in 2009)

2010 Auburn (#10 in 2006, #7 in 2007, #4 in 2010) Auburn was #20 in 2008 and #19 in 2009

2011 Alabama (#1 in 2008, #1 in 2009, #5 in 2010, #1 in 2011)

2012 Alabama (#1 in 2009, #5 in 2010, #1 in 2011, #1 in 2012)

2013 Florida State (#7 in 2009, #10 in 2010, #2 in 2011, #6 in 2012, #10 in 2013)

2014 Ohio State (#11 in 2011, #4 in 2012, #2 in 2013, #3 in 2014)

2015 Bama ( #1 2012 #1 2013 #1 2014 #2 2015)

You are your own worst enemy in these things, Mike. Since you threw down "100% wrong" all I have to do is list one example of your theory getting trashed.

And that example comes easily and quickly. 2005, USC vs Texas – largest collection of 5-stars on a team, said to be the best team of ALL TIME, said to be able to beat many NFL teams.

We, on the other hand, had a few 5-stars in that 2002 class, yes. One of whom was Edorian McCollugh who of course crashed and burned. USC CLEARLY had the recruiting advantage over Texas.

Yet, Texas beat USC and won the title.

Sorry, sir, you are 100% too eager to pound your chest. lol

WTF Are you talking about. The point is recruiting rankings matter. Texas and USC both got there because of recruiting. Go read the article. The idea is that the team that has the best class does not always win but the two teams who get there damn sure have a history of excellent recruiting classes.  God lord... Go cut some some tress are something,. Also VY was a 5 star.

USC had better recruiting than Texas did. It wasn't even close.

"Good read the article"  ?

"God Lord"  ?

"the team what has the"  ?

And you finish with what is supposed to be an occupational insult?

Obviously you're in Ketch's English As A Second Language class. LOL

And stop moving your goalposts. The whole thing started because you were weighing Bama's recruiting against Clemson's, which ironically are similar to how USC and Texas' were. You believed it earlier, now you dismiss it. LOL

Yes, I think we're all aware of Vince being a 5-star. . . glad you found that little nugget. lol

The goal post has not moved at all, to have a chance to win a national championship a team must recruit at a certain level. Yes USC had the overall best classes but Texas also hit the mark for the data to be in position to win a national championship. Now of course the old saying any team can beat anyone on a single day is true but the NC winners historically have had the best recruiting classes. I never said the team with the best class wins. I said the teams that are near the top give themselves the best chance to win one and the data shows that very clearly.

Here is a pro tip for you. Use the ignore feature on this site if it has one. Also thanks for pointing out my typo errors. I feel hurt by it....

Go back and read my OP I was not comparing Bama and CLemson. (My point was CLemson and Bama both destroyed their semifinal opponent)  I was simply stating that both had recruited well and them getting the NC game can be expected on the data. Now with Clemson they're right at the cutoff off (47%) of their roster being 4 stars are better. The watermark seems to be 50%.

There is absolutely no hope for Texas - at least not until we get rid of this administration and the coaching staff! I'm sick of it, sick of it, I say! I'm changing my allegiance to bammy and Sabin cuz they win every year in recruiting and NC's! It's the only place left for me to find hope and comfort!

Come with me, MBHORNSFAN - let's go together! And if you get there first, just wait for me - I'll be along shortly.

Texas is still pushing really hard for Patrick Hudson.  Hudson told me Coach Robinson keeps in constant communication with him and, as you can imagine, recruits are trying to get him to flip to the 'Horns.  As mentioned before, he plays things really close to the vest, but after my brief conversation with him I think other schools have an opportunity to flip Hudson.  It will be difficult, as he has been committed to the Bears for the better part of 18 months, but I can tell you his commitment to Baylor isn't rock solid.
