Pure speculation on my part but wonder if the coaches did not as they say pursue Obi after his Stanford visit and pretty much putt off a vibe that he needs to go to Stanford becasue they need his spot for someone else they were not expecting to get. Like another DL or OL.. Maybe?
I was wondering the same. We keep hearing about recruiting attrition and taking a lot of players this year. Obi may have had reason to think he could be an odd man out. Again though, I never blame a kid for wanting to attend Stanford. That's the one school I put on Texas' level.

The highs of recruiting can be followed by lows in quite a hurry.

This class size will end up around 25-26 total and will be a really nice haul, but I promise that it will not end up as eye opening as some analyst like to let on.  The flips are less likely than pulling kids once they have decommitted.

I wouldn't buy the chances at getting Hudson until the fax is in on the 3rd.

I think 27-28 is possible. This class will be very good.

Conflicting info now

It may be that the coach is just behind on the info cycle

Dont forget Cobb's mom nd sister are UT

And Strong still has an in-home to use (Stoops already used his)

One other possible factor is that Eboh analysis says he is more of a zone guy

While Cuffee/Cobb more coverage guys

Eboh does have the size Strong likes (6'2,190)

Cobb is 5'11,178

Cuffee is 5'11.5, 188

And Cuffee also has a listed 40-time of 4.47

Which is about normal for any program on any given year.
There's not many likely candidates, except at WR...  I think there will be a few, like 2 or 3 max and Jake is already gone, program wise.   I find it highly unlikely that they sign more than 26.

There are some Newsome rumors out there

Will depend on how Spring Ball goes for him

I doubt Newsome goes anywhere.  He will be utilized a ton in the new scheme.  He is a little unstable at times when it comes to social media.

Piggies are having a nice visitor weekend with several highly ranked guys

Among them are Brandon Jones and Eric Cuffee

A few more of the recognizable names are Kristian Fulton, Kofi Boateng and Tyrie Cleveland.  Devwah Whaley will also be there on a UOV

Just something to keep an eye on over the weekend

As long as he doesnt have another ultra awkward press conference. Good lord that was painful.

Do y'all think Aucoin will stick at TE? He looks like another Conner Williams to me after watching his film.

Hard to believe Williams was a TE at Coppell.

Steven Lorenz, Michigan Insider, Wolverine247
Lorenz says --

"When Elliott committed to Michigan in November, I was told by someone I trust that Elliott would eventually sign with the school whose campus he set foot on last. I was inclined to believe it until people from his camp reached out to me to say Michigan was a family decision and that it was a final one as well. Considering he's visiting Texas this weekend, it appears that the Horns will get him on campus last. He definitely won't be back in Ann Arbor.

This will theoretically be Elliott's fifth commitment in less than a year, as he committed to Baylor, Houston, silently committed to Texas, Michigan and then back to Texas."
