Trouble brewing?

I dont go through life assuming much. I prefer to see results. Hence, he comment that you find so objectionable that this presents a "clear opportunity" for him to offer an example of his integrity and leadership. Young men often benefit from authority figures providing concrete examples of how to act in certain situations.
Randolph - with all due respect, It is a little early to even insinuate Strongs reponse to inuendo.  Is that relevant?

Regarding the "possibility" two Texas players were involved, their "guilt" is unproven and they are innocent until it is.  This is the law - for them and for you and I.

As far as Charlie Strong, he is innocent as well.

I refuse to convict him, in the court of public opinion - in particularly where ones challenges and inuendos are bandied about and are to this date without any basis.

Good grief.

doc,

RD is an attorney, unless I am mistaken.  Therefore, his stance on this issue is particularly puzzling to me.  I thought that in this country every man, woman and child was entitled to their day in court, and that they were also innocent until proven guilty.

Hook 'em!

Charlie Strong is the head coach of the football team at the University of Texas. He got the job about six months ago. When he assumed his current position, he did so with an air of authority, a reputation for acting with integrity and an expressed belief in the importance of demonstrating leadership.

To date, his commitment to the aforementioned character traits had not been publicly tested. The involvement of the police in an official capacity into the lives of two of his players creates a "clear opportunity" for Charlie Strong to demonstrate his commitment to the aforementioned character traits.

In particular, the "clear opportunity" is to "do the right thing" and to "act in his official capacity as head coach of the University of Texas football team" and "take actions that comport with the values we believe are consistent with the best interests of the University of Texas, its alumni and its proponents."

Charlie Strong is the f'ing coach at UT. It is it really such a strange concept that some of the alumni expect for his $5 mil/year he be expected to do something that makes people think he is the right person for the job? He has two players being interviewed by the police in a sexual assault investigation. How is it difficult to imagine he should set an example as a leader, protect the reputation of the university and act as someone in a leadership capacity would reasonably be expected to?

There are times I feel as if I am living on a different planet. The poster boy of wrong decisions (to me) was Tom Osborne and Lawrence Phillips. Get the information available and act with integrity. The "clear opportunity" is to act in a way that is consistent with the values he espouses. Either he gets it right or he doesn't. Welcome to the big stage, Charlie.
Are you kidding me.... crap man I will be the first to call out a coach for not taking care of business. .. but dang man you base your rant on knowing nothing about what had happened. By the way everyone knows that he makes 5 million a year so what is your point in saying that. I don't care if he was making 50000 a year he still got to do the job the right way.... you have the right to not like Strong, but you need to come to a conclusion that Strong is the coach of Texas and you need to get over your personal vanity... #comeonman
