Game Week – Georgia at Texas

I feel Texas is most successful when we pass 10-15 yards down field and between the hashes. It seems to me, since Ewers return he's been mainly passing towards the sideline either behind the LOS or within 5 yards. So it seems like Ewers might be checking down or could be play called but I don't think that is the case.

So it will be interesting to see how the passing game goes with Vandy.

I appears that way because it seems Ewers has grown fearful of throwing long. So he's quick to check down.

The problem is, Sark's offense is based on the long pass, stretching the defense vertically.

I agree, things changed once he returned because he would throw a long one several times per game, previously.

I think the line of scrimmage passes are called plays, trying to draw up the corners in order to set up the deep stuff.

If I’m calling the defense with Ewers at QB I’m pressing the LOS and daring him to throw deep. He might hit a couple but he will miss a bunch.

I would also tell my safeties and corners to always play the ball short since he can’t throw deep at all

I think he can throw deep. He just can't hit anyone going deep. He is either too long or too short.

One thing the Georgia D was not worried about at all was Ewers running the ball. I too have noticed the lack of long passes since he's returned. Maybe his injury isn't fully healed?

Agree but remember how Sark got onto Arch because he threw too many deep balls, and wanted to see him go through the progressions? Quinn's first year he threw some beautiful deep balls, but the deep pass has been elusive for him since. I wonder if part of that is Sark wanting him to make higher percentage passes.

Can you remember even one deep pass he threw against Georgia?

I'm watching the game again. That first fumble by Ewers was not on him. The play called never even required him to look to his left until a checkdown.

But now watching more of the game I think that backside hit shook Ewers. He stopped looking downfield on passing plays after that.
