not so fast my friend....I find it ironic that VY who is thought of as a complete QB made his defining play on a scramble....and Street who piloted a running offense made his defining play with one of the most perfectly thrown passes ( all under pressure and with the title on the line) to a double guarded Peschel.... a dime drop.I’m sorry. My high school team ran the wishbone. We were pretty good back in the day. I think it was a great offense. But you can’t even try to compare a wishbone QB to a modern day QB. I played in it. We had an offense with like 12 plays. Street had 112 completions in 229 attempts over 22 games. He was a great leader and a great football player… a legend but the 4th best QB at Texas. Colt is third but not to Street. I don’t know if VY is even number 1. We had Bobby Layne. Stats were better than Street and Layne played in the era when you could mug the receivers. He was great in college and is in the College Footy and NFL Hall of Fame.
The fact is that both QB's did everything possible to bring glory to UT and a Title to Austin. None could have done what they did any better, or for that matter, as well. Then you have Colt who did exactly the same and if not for a bad luck injury would have done the same as the other two. Bobby Lane excelled at every level. How are you or anyone else every going to decide the best of that bunch.? Let's just be happy that we had the privilege to enjoy them on the 40....
