Notes from Burton today . . .

Bond, Bolden, and Moore have solidified themselves as the top three at WR. Says Moore is making himself "indespensible."

Cook and Golden are going to have to make the most of their opportunities as they will play because Sark is going with a rotation. Wingo is going to play a lot but right now he's confined to the outside WR spot.

Gavin Holmes seems to have earned the spot at 2nd CB.

Says Texas will rotate heavily at several positions, including DE (edge).
Saw Matt Miller, ESPN draft expert, say the staff is expecting double digit sacks from Trey Moore and him being a top 50 pick next spring. Do want!

This surprises me a little. I thought Cook was pretty much a lock to start.

Who was the best?...
Seriously....I think there is legitimate argument that can be made for Vince Young as the best. .....but it is damned sure not a given. He put the team on his back and won the Championship....yep..., but James Street did exactly the same thing.....Annnd....Street never lost a game. Ever!

I am just saying that it is hard to Annoint Colt as the second best when there are already 2 guys in front of him with better credentials......and there is no clear cut case that either of the other guys was better than the other.

Me too. If he starts making plays when his opportunities arise, he'll play more.

Another note, if we get hit with injury at that position, we're still in good shape. Cook could start on just about any other SEC team.

Juan Davis is the only one of the three non-RB players to be slated for RB duty to have volunteered himself to coaches to play RB. So consider the other two to be emergency only players. Gullette will work full time at LB.

I have mixed thoughts on Davis. Good kid. Wants to help his team. Love that. But he's 6'4. Makes him an easy target and easy to hit up high unless he figures out how to stay low.

I think you might see him as an H-back out of the backfield. I still think we see Colin Page back there during games that are in hand.

I’m sorry. My high school team ran the wishbone. We were pretty good back in the day. I think it was a great offense. But you can’t even try to compare a wishbone QB to a modern day QB. I played in it. We had an offense with like 12 plays. Street had 112 completions in 229 attempts over 22 games. He was a great leader and a great football player… a legend but the 4th best QB at Texas. Colt is third but not to Street. I don’t know if VY is even number 1. We had Bobby Layne. Stats were better than Street and Layne played in the era when you could mug the receivers. He was great in college and is in the College Footy and NFL Hall of Fame.

Agree, Layne would be the one I'd hold as high as VY. Lots of reasons I like VY though. The courage he showed under duress was impressive. His best came out on the biggest stage. Thats heroic.

This is interesting. I kind of see Bolden and Moore at the same slot position. Moore showed me something during the Spring game. Gonna be hard not to play him. I see Bolden playing more of a Keilan role with a lot of WR misdirection to get him in space.

And we got a couple of 5 stars coming in. Crazy amount of talent
