Exactly. Sure up your future! Only time in your life you’ll have this kind of leverage. Smart business decision. 

I’d pick football if I were him. No guarantee to ever make the Bigs in baseball. Plus a first round NFL pick will make $10 million easily. If you have some injuries then go back to baseball!

Its funny. Kyler got his start in Lewisville with the Lewisville Football Association (LFA). Its one of the best organized youth football leagues in DFW. I put two sons through it for four seasons each.

My youngest, Brandon, played during the time Kyler was getting started. Even then, word got out about who's who. So Brandon knew him, even then. I know former Cowboys DT Tony Casillas had a son playing in LFA. I used to see him quite often.

Agree smart, but he is stringing along his “employer” who dumped 4.7 million bucks into his bank account.

But if the A’s gave him $4.7M with no recourse, they deserve the stringing.  If they offer him a Major League contract and a lot more guaranteed, they’ll deserve what they get. With that gamble if they get a Hall of Famer they’ll deserve it. But if they get nothing it will hurt worse a spot on the 40 man roster is precious. Giving it to a player who can’t help for a couple to three years is stupid. This could be the classic throwing good money after bad.

I dont begrudge Murray for taking whatever he can get.....doesnt alter my life one bit......here is what I heard:

Murray is basing his $15 mill demand on baseball on what he would get as a mid first round NFL choice....and make no mistake, he would be an early first round pick. Seems like a QB drafted mid first round in last years draft got a 12 mill bonus, so he is pretty spot on with his thinking. ...If he wants fast money he needs to go NFL...He topped out at a 4.5 mill bonus in baseball and would likely spend several years toiling away in the minors before getting to the show and then would have to wait for his first contract to play out before the BIG free agent $$$ start to flow......and that only happens if he can hit a big league curve ball( a skill that has evaded countless "cant miss" prospects) Unless he happens to be a Ken Griffey or Bryce Harper his timeline will be just what I said.....That said....baseball absolutely covets what Murray brings to the table....His arm, hitting, and speed are off the charts for a prospect.Baseball makes no secrete of the fact that they desire young AMERICAN born black super stars back in their sport. They do not like losing top prospects to the NFL.

Frankly his bargaining position is pretty damned strong. You dont have to like him, but you do have to respect his natural born talent.

I don't really see him as a first rounder. He is too small--not just height-wise. Can you imagine a DT or DE hitting him? I know there are 6 foot QBs but I'm not sure Murray will make it. His arm is strong enough but if I learned anything from the Bama game. You can rattle him by hitting him a bit. Any DC worth his weight in salt, would make his life miserable. He'd have to adapt or go to baseball.

If I were the A's, let him go to the NFL. He might have better luck playing in the NBA.

the role of the qb is changing in the nfl.  i think someone will take him regardless of his height.  they'll give him that chance.  but yeah, if he starts taking too many hits, it might be a short career.
