FROM UT ATHLETICS:

Texas Athletics announces Loyalty Points system
New procedure rewards fans for commitment to Texas Athletics and its student-athletes

AUSTIN, Texas – To reward all season ticket members, Texas Athletics is instituting a Loyalty Points system. This new procedure provides a simplified process to determine priority for season tickets, parking, AT&T Red River Showdown, postseason games and other high-demand events.

“The Loyalty Points system adds value to all season ticket and Longhorn Foundation members,” said Steve Patterson, Texas Men’s Athletics Director. “It also rewards those who make a lifetime commitment in Texas Athletics and our student-athletes through philanthropic contributions, which are vital to the future success of our programs.”

The 2015 football season ticket renewal process will be the first application of Loyalty Points. Totals are based on full season ticket history, seat-related contributions and philanthropic gifts. Renewing Longhorn Foundation and season ticket members earn Loyalty Points based on past contributions and purchase history dating back to 1986, the year the Longhorn Foundation was established.

“Across all areas, we are working to improve the fan experience through increased customer service,” said Patterson. “This is one component of that overall goal. It directly reflects a need expressed by our fans that we were able to provide a solution.”

Points are awarded as follows:
5 points per $100 contribution for philanthropic gifts received after Sept. 1, 2014
2 points per $100 contribution for seat related contributions received after Sept. 1, 2014
3 points per $100 contribution for all gifts and contributions received from 1986-2014
1 point per $100 contribution for all ticketed sports since 1987

Texas letterwinners receive a one-time bonus of 150 points.

Fans can view their Loyalty Point status and determine where their next donation will place them in the rankings using the point calculator system available through theirDonorNet account. Account holders can also contact their personal service consultant to discuss their Loyalty Points.

More information on the Loyalty Points system is available at TexasSports.com. Season ticket and Longhorn Foundation renewals for the 2015 football season are coming within the next few weeks.

An aggy buddy of mine told me years ago that a&m does something similar to this, moving you year to year based on your contributions. I have decent seats now due to nobody showing up in the late 80s / early 90s when everyone was kicking our tails. They move me now and I will just give up my tickets and watch from the comfort of my couch.

I actually have decent seats too due to our suckage 2010 - etc.....

Might be in the same boat as you.

My understanding is you can keep your same seats at your current donation level. The new deal affects upgrades, ou, bowl games.

Street is correct.

Nothing about the new policy will affect your current tickets as long as you give the same amount you have given in the past... I like the new policy because it rewards past donations for away and OU vs Texas game... I will probly have better seats... I like my rank lol...

Another note... if you are donating at the grandfather rate you will not be able to sell your tickets to games you don't go to.... unless you pay the new full donation amount. ..

true. Not an issue for me, but I can understand some folks heartburn about it.

How would they know? You can still sell on eBay, Craigslist, but not on Stub Hub correct?

They are going to be monitoring StubHub, Ticket City, etc.

Craigslist, eBay and others I don't believe will be monitored.

ALSO OF NOTE:

If you're grandfathered in with a lower than current market rate on your LHF DONATION, your seat price is going to be higher than the Tier 4 seats, ($385)

I'm looking at a 36% increase in cost of tickets PLUS I will have to purchase parking, where it was included in my Season Ticket cost the past.

On the surface, this looks like a money-grab.  There is no added benefit to the season ticket holder, at least in my case.  This is a straight up poke in the eye with a hot poker.

Only been a season ticket holder for 2 years. I'm in Tier 2 seating - Section 31.  My season tickets increased about 10% from last year.  I'm holding onto these tickets for 3 reasons:

1. Grandfathered donation price

2. Future OOC Games

3. Leaving the Big 12 (who knows when)

I'm going to have a conversation with my buddy who splits the ticket costs with me.  There are some reasons to keep them, but IMO, the LHF and The University are taking a big 'ol crap on long-time donors and season ticket holders.

It's really unfortunate, and even worse, the company line that they're spewing about Loyalty Points, etc. is a huge crock.  Loyalty Points get you very litte in the grand scheme of things, yet that's not how they're portraying this in their media releases.

I'm very, very disappointed in The University in all of this.

joey, for the first time renewing for me isn't a no-brainer either. i've had two tickets for years in the same spot, so yes my LHF contribution is below 'market malue', by a decent amount. but the tickets are now $550 each, vs $420 last year and $395 just 3 years ago. and as you said, now parking isn't included either.

net result monetarily won't cause me to take a second job, but it's not smelling very good to me and it's making me wonder if i shouldn't just pocket the cash and pay for 2 or 3 games a year.

like someone said on OB, maybe ol' Deloss wasn't so bad afterall.

I am in Sec 29 ---Most people around me pay 3-4 times what I pay but my. Question is how much is parking and since I am going to pay full price ( approx 1100 ) I will be able to sell to a secondary market ( which I do for the first game every year--is that correct ??

If I understand it correctly, IF you pay what is listed under Grandfathered per seat Contribution, the first listed item at the bottom of the ticket renewal page, then you are free to do whatever you want with the tickets as far as resale.

Parking is in three tiers:

Tier 1 is $195 for the season:

  • Light Purple-S. San Jac St.
  • Pink (Lot 70)
  • Light Blue (San Jac Garage)
  • Green (Manor Garage)
  • Navy Blue (LBJ Library Lots)
  • Brown (Brazos Garage-Jester)
Tier 2 is $150

  • Yellow (Lot 108/118)
  • Orange (Trinity Garage)
  • Lime Green (Lot 103/104-Disch Falk)
Tier 3 is $100

  • Purple Checkered (State Garages A, B, G, Q)
  • Black/Gold (State Garage R)

I'm going to buy them again this year but I have to admit, this may be my last year after 30+ years.
