Koenning & Chambers Fired

When Charlie was putting his staff together he hired Watson as QB coach. The OC tag was not put on him until AFTER the staff was hired. That was strange. Usually a head coach would hire his coordinators and get their input as to who their assistants should be. At least 99% of any good head coach would do it that way. Maybe we will have a new OC next year.
Incorrect, Watson is not the offensive coordinator. Wickline is the OC of the offense and Watson is the Assistant Head Coach of the offense.

So its Wickline who put together that pile of **** game plan we saw in the Texas Bowl ?????

Everyone including me has been blaming Watson. My apologies to Watson !!!! Wickline ...so you're the one who sucks !!! LMAO

Whomever was responsible for that shit-show should do some soul-searching.

CFS doesn't get a pass, either. Ultimately he's responsible for our overall performance.

No OL and No Qb is going to make the best coordinators gameplan look like shit - but don't let me interrupt.
If Watson & Wickline qualify as "the best coordinators" after this offense's performance in 2014, we're in bigger trouble than I thought.

Swoopes regressed over the season - that's the sad truth. OL was sub-par and a patchwork quilt all season, but we didn't find a way to improvise or overcome their inadequacies. Good coaches do that.

Only teams we beat we were able to physically over-match. When will that happen again for UT? We're at least 2 years away from having physically dominant personnel. Will we always be strategically challenged?

First off, I think CS has us heading in the right direction for the long run. However this season has had plenty of issues that were on the coaching staff and I think CS is aware. It takes a while to build the cohesion, not only with the team, but the coaching staff as well. From what I have seen there has been several times when they were not on the same page. To truly succeed that will have to change. You can't expect cohesion with the team, if the staff is not all on the same page.

In my opinion, what you are seeing now is CS trying to correct that issue. Honestly, I think that what we are seeing in public is only a small part of what is going on behind closed doors. I think CS is re-shaping things to get everyone in line with each other.

True a crappy QB etc will cause a game plan to go bad, but the problem here is we didn't run anything for the players to screw up. It was all plain vanilla against a great Arky defense. Did you watch TCU, LSU, or Boise State ? Trick plays and a little razzle dazzle to rattle the defense. Hells bells...How about a little unbalanced line, odd formations, a reverse or two, or reverse pass, Utah pass, anything to put the defense on their heels.  We had a MONTH !!!!! We got NOTHING !!!! Its like the coaching staff said," We don't have a chance, lets just line up and do what we do and hope it works even though it didn't against Baylor, KSU, BYU, and TCU..etc."

Bobby Burton indicating that something could be happening staff wise on the defensive side. Several posters saying that Rumph may be going to Florida.

Your original post was your theory that Watson was not named OC after the staff was put together which was strange since has the OC has feedback on which assistants are hired. It wasn't strange since Wickline was named OC.

You are confusing the OC title with play calling duties.

Einstein's definition of "insanity" - doing the same things over and over and expecting different results.

I hope this signals an open mind to changing the offense to more of a spread or something that will suit Jerrod Heard better

First off, welcome to the site!

Second, I do think we will see some changes. Like I mentioned in my post above, I think CS is doing a lot more behind closed doors.

Will have to wait and see if it is a true change or not as far as offensive strategy.

That's the most important question for myself right now. More important than recruiting and coaching changes. Who is going to control the offense next year, Wickline or Watson or someone else?

Well my theory still floats as Wickline was hired after other coaches as well.

Then is the rumor referring to someone else on our defensive staff or is the entire rumor put to rest?
