We just got word from a source that Les Koenning and Bruce Chambers are being relieved of their jobs. Details coming.

UT has not confirmed yet.

Clearly, the powers that be knew this was coming and it was HS's big announcement this afternoon.

In all seriousness though, I only like the Koenning move if it means we're for sure getting Wyatt.

UT just confirmed it:

University of Texas assistant coaches Bruce Chambers (Tight Ends) and Les Koenning (Wide Receivers) have been relieved of their duties on the Longhorn football staff, Head Coach Charlie Strong said on Wednesday.

"Les and Bruce are both good men and good football coaches," Strong said. "It's unfortunate that it didn't work out, but I just feel like we need to make a change and head in a different direction in their positions. We wish them the best."

A national search for their replacements will begin immediately.

I stated back when that we should have kept Wyatt. Hopefully he will come back if asked.

One possible replacement is ex-UH head coach Tony Levine

Good TE/STs coach

We definitely need a shakeup on STs

Knows Houston recruiting scene well

I expected Chambers to be gone. Koenig is a mild surprise.

Hopefully, we can land Wyatt to replace Koenig. Have no idea on who would be the guy for the other spot.

I think that was important but only if they really get a really good coach which idk who is a good position coach out there anyways.

What did the WRs and TEs do in that loss? Maybe there is part of the reason?

IMO, we have to admit Koenning did a great job with Harris.

That said, we have to have a better recruiter at that position, which i think what Strong is admitting with this move.

A better offensive scheme wouldn't hurt on that front either.

I'd be surprised if Strong re-hired Wyatt when he didn't retain him previously.

That'd be admitting a mistake. But, maybe he realizes that now.
