2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Can u post some vids of S Carlton Davis? If Kirk Johnson stays at RB, which is looking more likely, we can use an extra S in this class. Bc we need at least 2 if not 3 CBs.

That video of Newsome is great, definitely a must watch to learn more about the young man that Texas values so highly.

In regards to the Malik visits, I love the fact that Malik's mom is in the picture with Strong and Bedford.

Checked out Miami's 247 to see what they have to say about Devonaire Clarington. I was shocked to see that the Miami fans on that board aren't high on Clarington at all. Many question his attitude and show concern over his grades. Those who do want him, want him to play Defensive End rather than Tight End. His Crystal Ball still reads 100% Miami and I think that's where his heart lies. But the lack of contact by Miami and the lack of support by the Hurricane Fans might drive him right into Austin. If anybody is capable of straightening out an attitude and preaching education, it's Strong. We'll see how it plays out. I'd certainly like to see him playing with a Longhorn on his helmet next year.

Westcott Eberts expouses that one advantage we have with Ryan Newsome is that he wants to major in communications

"They were selling the Longhorn Network, how I'm pretty well set after college. That's what I want to do, and the Longhorn Network is directly affiliated with ESPN. I would have my foot in the door with a lot of important people. That's one thing I wanted to see, and they definitely showcased that to me over the weekend."

He adds that two other positive factors should be --

(1)  Newsome's longtime relationship with TRob; and

(2)  (potentially at least) his developing relationship with LB Darrin Kirkland Jr

"Even if Newsome is the only one of the three who ends up in burnt orange, Texas won't just be getting a talented player, they will be getting a young man who shouldn't have any problems upholding head coach Charlie Strong's five core values."

You KNOW Malik's Mom heard exactly what she needed to hear from Charlie and Vance about her son attending and playing at UT - I suspect overall what she heard will be better than what she heard from Stumblin and aggy.

I think the biggest problem, for Texas anyway, is that Malik is hearing what he needs to hear from Stumblin and, to him, it's better than what he is hearing from Strong. She most likely would rather him go play for Strong but she will not stop him if he chooses to play for Stumblin. The ultimate decision will be up to Malik not his Mother.

You are right.... just hoping Mom has a big influence on him if she is leaning to UT.

If Charlie Strong can't out-recruit Sumlin for a defensive player when Sumlin doesn't have any better idea who his DC will be than does the recruit, Strong needs to hang it up. The aggy quest for a DC is on the verge of getting comical.

Malik is supposedly announcing in 8 days, he has no idea who the aggy DC will be and he STILL would rather play for aggy than UT!? Really?!

That line of thinking would make sense if Strong was dealing with adults making logical decisions. He isn't.

Exactly. You have no idea what 18 year old kids are looking for. I think Malik is more logical/intelligent than most recruits, but we shall see. If he's committing to a school based on friendships that's on him in the long run.

If he intends his life to go in the same direction as his friends, he needs to make his decisions based on the direction his friends go. At some point, either he needs to understand his life is going in a different direction and he has to take a different course, or he will be correct and his life will go the same direction as that of his friends.

If Sumlin holds his recruiting class together, I will be impressed. If he flips some defensive recruits, Coach Strong needs to just walk away from the state of Texas and quit trying to compete with Sumlin. I can't believe more aggy defensive prospects aren't out testing the waters until Sumlin shores up his coaching staff.

I know we have a lot of questions on Offense, but the Defense is going to be down right nasty for years to come.

If that is the case every coach in America needs to walk away.... ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿

You really do take over the top to a new level sometimes. I'm just glad the people in charge aren't nearly as reactionary as you are. My goodness take some valium or something.

The opinion that Strong should be able to out-recruit Sumlin after Sumlin's finishing second in the Fullmer Cup and sixth in his division and not having a clue who is DC will be is all mine. The comment alluding to the fact that successful people usually come to the realization that to reach their potential they have to be willing to walk a different path than their less talented friends is my paraphrasing the philosopher Moss (Ph.D, Rand University).

As far as the great philosopher is concerned, was that after he signed his letter of intent to play at Notre Dame or Florida State or Marshall?
