SignUp Now!Nor bad grades at all. My MVP on offense for UT was Tyrone Swoopes. My MVP on defense for UT was Malcom Brown.
Disagree about our defensive ends not buying the fake. They did multiple times.Lukus Alderman grades the BYU game - REPORT CARD
Good question. The way that I graded was partly based upon what was expected of the position, but mainly based on their performance from my perspective. For example, Swoopes didn't have great numbers for a quarterback. That said, he limited turnovers and was accurate in the passes that he attempted. That gave him a decent grade. On the other hand, you have the OLine. We knew they would have a difficult time, but when there is absolute no push and the RBs average less than 3 yards per carry, that's not going to get you a good grade.I would just like to know the "how" into the grading system. How are the grades manufactured? What is the grading system? Is each player graded or is it the sum of the parts?
An example might be based on three equal parts for simplicity. 1) Alignment - are they aligned properly to the call? The only way to know that is if you have the Horns playbook and know what each play calls for. 2) Assignment - What is the design of each play? Again, it goes back to the playbook and what they are asked to do. Did each guy take care of his assignment with proper technique, footwork, start and stance, reaction time, and success of player duty. 3) Finish - Did the OL finish their blocks? Did they drive their feet, did they pancake their guy, did they sort the point of attack, etc (Just used OL as an example)
Point is, I see grade reports all the time. I just like to know the "HOW" behind it. It helps for all to have a metric from which players and groups are quantified, rather than opinions generated from fan speak, so to say. Allow me to be clear, I am not making any statement about the grades on our Horns, other than wanting to know how they are generated. Thanks

Yea, every time I see "grades" I wonder just what criteria is being used. For example, someone on Inside Texas has done their grading on an individual basis and the lowest grade that any offensive lineman received was a C-. That was the lowest! Really?I would just like to know the "how" into the grading system. How are the grades manufactured? What is the grading system? Is each player graded or is it the sum of the parts?

Laugh out loud. Comparing Shannon to me in regards to football knowledge is like comparing Saving Private Ryan to Starship Troopers. Meh...that probably wasn't a good analogy, but I'm just trying to say that Shannon's got the football smarts. When he talks, I listen...whether I understand him or not.hey Lukus...that loud whooshing sound is Shannon's post going over your head.
Thank you for the reply. My opinion was that your grades were pretty dog gone fair. I just wanted to know your metric of evaluation.Good question. So, the grades that I made in this report card were opinion generated based upon my perspective. I welcome criticism from anyone on here, especially from someone such as yourself with experience in the film room, on the sidelines, and on the field of play. I also encourage others to post their own grades and thoughts and yours are absolutely welcome as well.
Ha! trueI know it's fun to give various units grades. And I have no problem with that.
But the only grade that matters is the team grade, and I give it an F.
