The purge part 2

Turner must've failed a drug test shortly after if he was dumb enough to mix it up with Coach Moorer. He had to have been high

It's gotta be tough for a guy who is a Senior to be in good standing to be called out by the enforcer of the new regime.  If he is a good guy with a good attitude and he stays, he will be a good teacher for the younger guys.  Sounds like he wants to be here.  Good for him.  Get with the program!   It very well could be that the guys with the undisclosed issues were put in the position that they were put in to see how they would react.  The guys who run for the door, well, buhbuy!  The guys who stay can be cornerstones of the program

What does Moorer need this silly bulletproof vest for? We all know his enormous pecs can deflect bullets!

bud, I think you and I may be thinking along the same lines.

I am too lazy to look it up, but if memory serves, Turner didn't redshirt.  If he is due to graduate in December, the kid is smart and has not been screwing around.  It is irritating that someone started a rumor about theft.  Strange, is it not, student-athletes are held accountable, but internet posters and reporters don't seem to be.

I've mentioned before that young people think nothing of 'mouthing off' now.  It's not simply high school and college age students, either.  I saw it happen a couple of days ago with a 30 year old.

If Josh learns from this, and it appears he is a quick learner, he will be well-served by it in the future.  It is always better to treat others with respect.  His degree will be exponentially more valuable if he internalizes that simple concept.

My gut feeling is he is a good kid with a cornerback's mentality, and he let his mouth get the better of him, but I don't even know him.  He obviously really wanted to stay on the team, individuals on the team came to his defense about the false accusations in the press, and he had the courage to stay in touch with the coaches.  When he met with Coach Strong, my gut is telling me that he was truthful and showed remorse for his actions.  I see nothing wrong with giving a kid like that a second chance, with strict guidelines.

I'm pulling for Turner, and I'll bet that Charlie Strong is, as well.

Hook 'em!

how do you know that he has "enormous pecs"?  none of us have ever laid eyes upon them.  have we.....

I don't know if pecs get much bigger than Moorer's. Not lean muscle anyway

Hittin' the beach in those shorts after a solid workout! Surf's up in the pit with Moorer.
Had to add a comment after reviewing my post that he is actually smiling in this photo. Are we sure this isn't an imposter? Don't show this to the players, might think he's gettin' soft.

It's implied by the mystique of Mr Moorer. We do know that his pecs have to be more defined than Mad Dogs D-cups.

I know JS and he does not make stuff up.  I called a source within in Bellmont concerning this matter and he told me that Patterson receives these types of emails on a weekly basis and the majority of them come from UT alums.  If our own alums can be critical, why is it so surprising that some aggy would be?

Some of you would be surprised on how critical  someTexas alums have been of Charlie Strong.

JS is a stand up guy and relays information from a source that is very well connected.  I will leave at that.

It's ok to question the information but, let's not question JS's character.

You know, java, I am pulling for all of them as I am sure you are, too.  There is a difference in pulling for students in general and differentiating between that and the advantages that these guys have wasted.  I do not have any idea what was going on with Bergeron, but he obviously made little effort to remedy his situation in the same manner that Turner apparently did.  SO, to him I say bubbye.  He made his bed and he should have to deal with the repercussions.  Turner, on the other hand seems to be showing some remorse.  If he handles this properly, he will not only be able redeem himself for this season, but for his future and his place on this team. I think that that is important for these guys.  Bergeron, on the other hand is in a darker place.  He has forsaken his team, something he has had as a centerpiece of his life for a while.  This does not mean that he is a bad person, but I cannot help but think that as a young adult, he is going to miss out a bit on a certain part of growing up that he needs to do.  Now he gets to go be an adult.  Good luck to him.

No offense but this is bullshit. . . .

Hay Suess posted a story. . .it implied the letter was written (if any letter actually exists. . I tend to doubt an aggie isn't even stupid enough to put his name on it) to the powers that be at belmont FROM the staff at the San Angelo coaches clinic they did not want CFS to return .. .

No such letter was EVER written by the staff in San Angelo. . . .. . . and this isn't speculation on my part but rather was confirmed by a player parent who has known the people running that clinic for decades

Of course few "main stream" reporters would ever pass along such a bullshit claim .. . . BTW, I hold any reporter to the same standard and when they have a habit of playing fast and loose with the truth (see Skip Bayless) they are worthy of ridicule and mockery. . . .

This is nowhere near a "fluid" situation. . either the SA staff wrote a letter or they didn't. . . .and they say they didn't .. . .thus I can only conclude (well if we are using logic) that Hay Suess made up the story .. . .

As for Hay-Suess being a "glory boy". . . . .don't know, don't really care. . .his track record as a wannabe insider largely sucks . .. this situation did nothing but confirm yet another reason I left IT and outside of Coach Culpepper's column, could care less about going back short of Gerry Hamilton buying the place out and getting rid of the driftwood. . . .

You say with certainty that no such letter EVER was written. And you say this isn't speculation by explaining this came from a player parent, as if a player parent is somehow inside the AD's office going through the daily mail.

Why don't you just say "I know a guy" and get it over with. And at that point, what separates you from the very person you are criticizing? You're doing the same damned thing he is.

I tried to explain it but will just let you believe whatever you want instead.

I will also say this, I have the utmost respect for Chip Brown.

Reporting on a website is a two edged sword.  Sometimes you can't win for losing.

You can report the process & be absolutely 99% correct and that 1% at the end, can bite you in the butt.

I admire those in the trenches that are trying to bring news to everyone before it hits the mainstream.

IMO, it's easy to sit back and play "newspaper boy".

Mark,

This is the type of comment which has hurt your reputation .. . .

I am certain that the staff of the San Angelo clinic did not write the letter (or now email. . .) that is what Hay Suess  reported. . .

Hay Suess attributed the letter to the staff not random coaches. . .

Clearly this is my opinion. . . .and not one pulled out of my backside to drive attention to my website .. . .frankly I thought the story wrung hollow BEFORE I had it confirmed it was a bullshit report. . . . .

To be clear. . .

One of our players parents has known the people who run the San Angelo Clinic (father son team) for years. . . .they have both completely refuted Travis Clay's story published at ESPN. . . in fact they they say it's largely lies and that Travis was not one of their accredited media. . . . .they also say that NO LETTER WAS ISSUED BY THE STAFF..  .in response to your boy's story .. .

As I said above, if some random (and likely racist) aggie leaning sheep humper wrote some letter. . . WFCs?

Stop trying to obstrucate the issue and stop trying to put words in my mouth . .. .

echeese, I have no idea why clarifying facts would cause me a bad reputation. LOL. I have to ignore what I know and agree with you to have a good reputation? Really?

I would like to think we can have a civil discussion without intentionally misspelling people's names or referring to them as "your boy." His name is Jesus Shuttlesworth, Kevin Berger, and he's a helluva nice guy and Longhorn.  He's no more "my boy" than you are "my boy." If someone spoke about you incorrectly, I'd do the same. If that causes you to think less of me, then you'll just have to think less of me.

The story Jesus produced did change. I was on the phone with him when it did change. We discussed the change. Part of our conversation was about him trying to get to the truth.

I have no idea who Clay Travis is and am not sure why you bring that up. I haven't said a word about whoever that person is or the network they work for.

But you did say that it's "largely lies" so I wondering what part you're now saying wasn't lies? Or did you ask when you were told that? That would be kinda important.

Texas running back Jalen Overstreet said on Thursday that he’s received a full release from his scholarship and the former Tatum standout is moving on.

“I have my official release. Now I’m able to transfer anywhere,†Overstreet told the American-Statesman. Overstate does not know where he’ll transfer to but hopes to receive some calls now that he’s gotten a release from UT.

Overstreet played in nine games last season as a redshirt freshman. He rushed for 102 yards, scored twice and also played on special teams.

Overstreet was one of four players dismissed by coach Charlie Strong last week for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Texas officials have not confirmed that any players were dismissed and all the players’ names still appear on the team’s online roster.

However, former running back Joe Bergeron received his full release and was considering whether to transfer to West Texas A&M or another in-state Division II school.

Safety Josh Turner was dismissed but the American-Statesman reported that he was reinstated after a midday meeting on Wednesday with Strong. Turner must adhere to what amounts to a zero-tolerance policy to stay on the team.

Thought I was pretty clear you were putting words in my mouth .. . .you were not "discussing facts"  but you were goal post moving. . . trying to cover .. . .I never said there was no letter, simply not one from the staff.

Doesn't matter . .. .I"m done with it. . . .most everyone realize his story for what it was . . . .

PS, Clay Travis is the ESPN hack who wrote the original hit piece that Hay-Suess tried to pile on with .. . .

I have no dog in this pissing match, but I am pretty sure obstrucate is not a word.

I choose to be creative. . . not a grammar nazi .. . .

I doubt anyone was confused about my meaning. . .well most anyone anyway .. .
