bud, I think you and I may be thinking along the same lines.
I am too lazy to look it up, but if memory serves, Turner didn't redshirt. If he is due to graduate in December, the kid is smart and has not been screwing around. It is irritating that someone started a rumor about theft. Strange, is it not, student-athletes are held accountable, but internet posters and reporters don't seem to be.
I've mentioned before that young people think nothing of 'mouthing off' now. It's not simply high school and college age students, either. I saw it happen a couple of days ago with a 30 year old.
If Josh learns from this, and it appears he is a quick learner, he will be well-served by it in the future. It is always better to treat others with respect. His degree will be exponentially more valuable if he internalizes that simple concept.
My gut feeling is he is a good kid with a cornerback's mentality, and he let his mouth get the better of him, but I don't even know him. He obviously really wanted to stay on the team, individuals on the team came to his defense about the false accusations in the press, and he had the courage to stay in touch with the coaches. When he met with Coach Strong, my gut is telling me that he was truthful and showed remorse for his actions. I see nothing wrong with giving a kid like that a second chance, with strict guidelines.
I'm pulling for Turner, and I'll bet that Charlie Strong is, as well.
