To begin, quarterback Cade Klubnik has been rock solid for Dabo Swinney‘s Tigers. This season, Klubnik has thrown for 3,303 yards and has a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 33-5. As a result, Clemson has thrived offensively, possessing the game’s 17th-best passing attack. Additionally, the junior is a threat with his legs, rushing for 458 yards and seven touchdowns.

At receiver, Antonio Williams has been Klubnik’s go-to guy, tallying 71 receptions for 838 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024. Alongside Williams, Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore have both made major contributions offensively at the wideout position. Lastly, senior tight end Jake Briningstool has been a reliable target for the offense.

In the running game, senior Phil Mafah has proven to be a steady back for the Tigers. In 2024, Mafah has rushed for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns. As previously mentioned, Mafah, paired with Klubnik, is a dynamic duo on the ground.

DeRaud’s Scouting Report of the Clemson Defense:

This year’s Clemson defense, under defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin, hasn’t performed up to the standards of past Clemson teams. Over the season, the Tigers have hovered around the national average in points allowed per game and total yards allowed. Opposing offenses have been able to move the ball effectively both on the ground and through the air.

However, Clemson has managed to excel in two areas: generating turnovers and applying pressure on the quarterback. Much of that pressure comes from standout defensive end TJ Parker, who has recorded 11 sacks and forced six fumbles this season. In the secondary, cornerback Aveion Terrell has excelled in man coverage, while safety Khalil Barnes leads the team in interceptions. To succeed against Clemson, Texas will need a strategy to double-team Parker and diversify their passing game to avoid Barnes and Terrell.
