In his first year at Texas A&M, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Collin Klein is already making his mark. Klein likes to lean heavily on the run game, making opposing defenses having to account for a dual threat quarterback as well. Leading the rushing attack is quarterback Marcel Reed. Reed took the starting job from Connor Weigman earlier in the year and averages 49 rush yards per game along with 12 total touchdowns. In the backfield, running back Amari Daniels takes over for an injured Le’Veon Moss.

On the outside, the receiving room is made up of two vertical threats who both stand above 6’4″. Noah Thomas leads the team in receiving yards and total receptions and Jahdae Walker adds another wrinkle that Texas will have to deal with in the passing game.

Messinger’s Scouting Report of the Texas A&M Defense:

This season, the Aggies have the 38th-ranked scoring defense in the nation, allowing 21.55 points per game. At the linebacker position, sophomore linebacker Tauren York leads the way with 65 tackles. In front of him, Nic Scourton, Cashius Howell, and Shemar Turner all stand in at 6’4″ and 285+ pounds. Through this point in the year, Texas A&M’s defensive front has been the strength of the defense.

Along with York, linebacker Scooby Williams and defensive backs Dalton Brooks and Marcus Ratcliffe are all playmakers. In fact, the Aggies have created 12 turnovers off of interceptions. That is good enough for 24th place in the country.
