On Saturday, the Texas Longhorns will look to escape a potential trap game against Kentucky. In the YouTube video above, our Devon Messinger and Dylan DeRaud name their X-factors to watch.
Messinger’s X-Factors:
Against Kentucky, my player to watch is Isaiah Bond. Last weekend against Arkansas, it took a while for Bond to get involved in the action. Despite of this, the Longhorn wide receiver finished the game with four catches for 48 yards. More importantly, Bond gives the Texas offense a bolt of energy any time he touches the ball. As a result, expect Steve Sarkisian to implement Bond into the game script early, giving Ewers some routine throws to build his confidence against the Wildcats.
DeRaud’s X-Factors:
An extra factor to the game will be the play in the backfield for Kentucky. Running backs Demie Sumo and Jamarion Wilcox lead the team in rush yards and will be an integral part of any hypothetical upset. This year, Kentucky has won most of their games through clock management and defensive play. As a result, expect the Wildcats to try to balance the running game with Dane Key’s presence in the passing game. If Sumo and Wilcox are able to combine for more than 150 rush yards, Texas will be on upset alert going into the fourth quarter.
