This season, the Razorbacks are the 79th-ranked scoring defense in the country, allowing an average of 26.3 points per game. While the team’s run defense has been solid, the Arkansas passing defense has been more than suspect. So far this season, the Razorbacks have allowed 266.2 yards per game through the air. With Quinn Ewers coming off of his five touchdown performance against Florida, Sam Pittman’s defense will have their hands full trying to contain Texas’ talent on the perimeter.

At linebacker, redshirt junior Xavian Sorey Jr leads the team with 77 tackles. Alongside Sorey, defensive linemen Landon Jackson and Eric Gregory have been studs for Arkansas in the their front seven. Lastly, sophomore defensive back TJ Metcalf has been another impact player for Arkansas in the secondary, tallying three interceptions so far this season.

DeRaud’s Scouting Report of the Arkansas Offense:

Silently, this Arkansas offense led by Bobby Petrino, has been one of the better units in the country. The Razorbacks are ranked 5th in total offense, 11th in passing offense and ranks towards the top half in the country in scoring offense.

A large part of this success has been dual-threat quarterback Taylen Green. He will likely play coming off a knee injury against Ole Miss and, if he’s near full health, can make teams pay with his scrambling ability. Beside him, running back Ja’Quinden Jackson is expected to play after missing a couple of weeks and just in time for his revenge game against Texas where he started his playing career.

On the outside, wide receiver Austin Armstong has been a big play threat all season. He’s excellent in one on one coverage and can high point the ball with his 6’4 frame. Expect this game to be a great road test for the Longhorn secondary as they will have their hands full stopping the pass and the run.
