The Texas Longhorns kicked off fall practice with high expectations as they prepare for their inaugural season in the SEC. The roster boasts deep and impressive talent, with several players standing out on day one. The wide receiver group, arguably the strongest it has been in years, features Silas Bolden, who demonstrated top-flight speed, clean route running, and the ability to make big catches, looking like a future star. True freshman Ryan Wingo, a complete player with great hands, skilled route running, and breakaway speed, is expected to see time in the rotation. The offensive line, crucial to this season’s success, has solidified its starting five with Kelvin Banks Jr., Hayden Conner, Jake Majors, DJ Campbell, and Cam Williams, with Banks Jr. projected as a potential first-round pick in next year’s draft.

At running back, CJ Baxter is established as the starter, with the explosive Jaydon Blue set to see significant action, and Trey Wisner, who has received praise from the coaching staff, expected to get meaningful carries. The quarterback position is particularly strong, with starter Quinn Ewers looking sharp, making precise throws in tight coverage, and setting the tone for the practice, while Arch Manning also impressed with his performance.

On defense, Malik Muhammad emerged as a standout, establishing himself as the starting boundary cornerback, with Gavin Holmes, Jay’Vion Cole, and Warren Roberson also having impressive starts. Each one of these standout are expected to be key in the secondary rotation. Freshman All-American Anthony Hill Jr. will anchor the linebacker corps with great speed, range, and tackling ability. The defensive line, led by Alfred Collins, includes Ethan Burke, Colton Vasek, Sydir Mitchell, Zina Umeozulu, and Barryn Sorrell, with freshman Alex January from Duncanville expected to contribute early. Texas had a strong opening to fall practice, setting the stage for a potentially successful season in the SEC. The talent and depth on the roster are promising signs for meeting the high expectations placed on the team this year.
