The Texas Longhorns enjoyed their best football season since 2009, boasting an impressive 13-2 record which included a Big 12 Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. At the conclusion of the Sugar Bowl loss to the Washington Huskies, they lost fifth year wide receiver Jordan Whittington, transfer junior wider receiver Adonai Mitchell and junior wideout Xavier Worthy, each of who expects to be selected in the upcoming NFL Draft.

As they head to the Southeastern Conference, the Longhorns will bring a 2024 recruiting class that currently ranks third nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. They are also experiencing success utilizing the transfer portal, bringing in highly regarded Houston WR transfer Matthew Golden and now former Alabama receiver Isaiah Bond. Golden committed to the Longhorns back on December 16th, and Bond announced his pledge to the Longhorns today after entering the portal two days ago following Nick Saban’s retirement in Tuscaloosa.

Bond was considered the best wide receiver in the transfer portal and was ranked the second best prospect in the portal. He will be a junior when he hits the 40 Acres, which means he will have at two seasons left to play when he arrives in Austin. Bond, a 5-11, 182 lb. native of Buford, Georgia, was a 4-star recruit out of high school and was the 43rd best player nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings. He caught 48 passes for 668 yards and four touchdowns for the Crimson Tide this season.

Bond told ESPN that his decision to transfer from Alabama to Texas was simply a business decision.

“Just like the business world, you make the best decision for your company,” Bond told ESPN. “My company right now is my draft stock. I feel like I’m putting myself in position to increase that and have better draft stock.”
