The Texas Longhorns finished year three in Steve Sarkisian’s tenure as head coach with significant progress from his first two seasons. Following a 5-7 record in year one and an 8-5 record last season, this year Sarkisian led the Longhorns to a 12-2 record overall and their first appearance in the College Football Playoff. Despite losing to the Washington Huskies 37-31, the Texas program carries a lot of momentum as they prepare to officially become members of the Southeastern Conference in July.

Sarkisian’s work has not gone unnoticed as he was a finalist for the Paul “Bear” Bryant and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Awards. He can add George Munger Award to that list, as he was named a finalist along with four other coaches on Wednesday by the Maxwell Football Club.
