Today former Texas Longhorn Logan Eggleston joined an elite cohort of 30 NCAA female athletes to be considered for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.  If named the final Award winner in January, she would represent The University of Texas’ first recipient of the prestigious recognition.

Eggleston was first nominated in July among an initial round of 619, then the Conferences winnowed down to 164 and today, the Woman of the Year Selection Committee announced their 10 finalists for each Division.  These 30 women have demonstrated excellence beyond their athletic careers, including distinctions in academics, community service and leadership.

A career at Texas marked by 141 matches and 493 sets, Eggleston delivered nearly 2000 career kills and an overall hitting efficiency of 0.305 and was defensively strong contributing 981 digs and 293 blocks. The outside hitter started her Longhorn career as Big 12 Freshman of the Year and by her final season, had earned Big 12 Conference Player of the Year three consecutive years – only one of three athletes achieving such honors.  Eggleston’s accomplishments culminated in leading Texas Volleyball to their fourth National Championship with a season total of 407 kills and a team high of 42 aces, earning her the team’s first AVCA National Player of the Year and 2022 NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player.

In November, the Selection Committee will select three of the 10 honorees named today followed by the NCAA 2023 Woman of the Year announcement next year in Phoenix.
