Following Wednesday’s practice Charlie Strong met with members of the media to discuss the health of the team headed into Thanksgiving’s matchup against Texas Tech. The Longhorns sustained a multitude of injuries in the 38-20 loss to West Virginia last Saturday, one of which will require surgery to the team’s most productive running back. D’Onta Foreman is slated to undergo surgery on his injured finger on Thursday, and it is still unclear how surgery will affect his ability to carry the ball.

“I think tomorrow we’ll have a better update and then we’ll be able to know more about that injury. Even if he is [out], then if we’ll be able to get [Johnathan] Gray back in to help us, we still have Chris Warren and Kirk Johnson. So we have options there at that position,” Strong said.

Senior running back Johnathan Gray is listed as day-to-day with a foot injury but is likely to play against Texas Tech on Thanksgiving night.

The other injured player Strong commented on was offensive lineman Patrick Vahe. Vahe, like Johnathan Gray, is listed as day-to-day after injuring his left knee in Morgantown.

Other than the three offensive players noted, the team is healthy and preparing for next week’s game against Texas Tech.

“Those three guys are the major concerns right now, everyone else… we have a few bumps or bruises, but everyone else is out and they’re practicing.”

The Longhorns (4-6) are not in action this weekend but will play the Red Raiders (6-5) on Thanksgiving night at 6:30 pm in Austin. The game will be televised on FS1.
