It is no surprise that the Longhorns are putting together a remarkable 2013 recruiting class. Â Apparent enough is the reality that the class thus far includes a heavy dose of firepower at the wide receiver position. Â Jake Oliver, Ricky Seals-Jones and Jacorey Warrick are the headliners and Mack Brown must be impressed with the potential this highly touted trio brings to Austin next year.

While the team might be pursuing additional flanker artillery (we’ll make it a point to include Dallas Skyline’s Ra’Shaad Samples here) I had the opportunity to catch up with the latest ‘Horns wide-out commit, Cypress Falls High School’s Jacorey Warrick.
ME:
Jacorey, You received a lot of offers from a lot of big time football programs. Why did you choose Texas?
WARRICK:
Like a lot of guys, I grew up a fan of the University of Texas and their football program. During my visit I had a great time and really enjoyed all of the coaches and the tremendous atmosphere. After that I talked with my parents and Coach Eaton and decided Texas was the place for me.
ME:
What about Mack Brown and Texas sold you on committing this early?
WARRICK:
Honestly, the staff and players were all genuine and it was a family-friendly environment. All the guys were great to be around. Then I saw a spring practice and was extremely impressed. Â All of these things made my decision much easier.
ME:
Are you finished with recruiting?
WARRICK:
Oh yes, I am finished with the recruiting process.
ME:
Now that recruiting is finished for you, what parts of your game are you working on in preparation for arriving at Texas?
WARRICK:
Basically I am working on fine-tuning everything and working on my explosiveness. I want to continue to be strong and fast off the line and to the ball.
ME:
How do you see yourself fitting into the Texas offense?
WARRICK:
I see myself being the guy that makes the sure catch – the guy with the great hands. I look forward to the opportunity to play in the slot, which is where I believe they are thinking of using me most.
ME:
Scouting reports have your height listed anywhere from 5-9 to 5-11, and your weight from 160 – 165. What is your actual weight and height?
WARRICK:
I am 5’10†and weigh 170 lbs. now and want to be at 180 lbs. when I arrive at Texas.
After speaking with Jacorey it was easy to see why so many schools are in pursuit of the high school junior from Houston.  He is a well-spoken, honest and genuine young man (he even called me sir!) and his leadership potential is very apparent.  This is a young man that will make a lasting impact on the field and  in the locker room.  Throw in the fact that he can catch a ball or two and you have a recipe for success. Congratulations to Jacorey – we wish you a great senior year at Cy Falls and look forward to seeing you play on Saturdays in burnt orange.
