Missouri Tackle Sheldon Richardson Hates Texas, eh?

http://www.bevoball.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/mad.jpgHopefully the burnt orange brigade gives him another reason to hate on Saturday.  With the Texas Longhorns stampeding into Columbia, Missouri and riding the wave of two consecutive 400+ rushing yard games, Richardson better be able to back up his words.  Words?  What words you might ask?  Here is what Richardson had to say about Texas when interviewed by a Columbia television station:

“”I hate people from Texas,” Richardson said. “I give people on our team from Texas a hard time because they’re from Texas. I hate Texas. I just do. I hate Texas. Any other overrated state in football I pretty much hate. That’s how I feel about it… Overrated. Overrated. Overrated. It’s blown out of proportion. It really is. I played against their best recruits and I wasn’t impressed, at all.”

It is easy to ascertain that Richardson only has a few beans between his ears – his words prove that point .  First of all everyone knows that the state of Texas produces loads and loads of high school football talent, along with California and Florida.  He ain’t the sharpest knife in the block, especially since more than a third of his team members hail from the great state of Texas.   If Richardson is sincere about what he said, then he is even dumber than we imagined.  Go ahead an alienate your team members because you have a problem with a Lone Star State.  Translation = the Longhorns didn’t want him and neither did Baylor or TCU.  In fact Missouri fans weren’t sure he was going to be able to qualify academically to start the 2011 season for the Tigers.   He committed to Missouri as a high school student back in 2007 as a highly touted recruit and waffled on where he wanted to play college ball before finally signing a letter of intent to play at Mizzou.  Then he waffled some more (see article here for waffling details – http://www.kansascity.com/2011/08/11/3071536/hoopla-greets-richardsons-debut.html).  With all this being said, who really cares what this guy has to say.  He is about to meet the likes of Malcolm Brown, Joe Bergeron and Fozzy Whitaker who will gash his defense for another 400 (fingers crossed) and hopefully a win in Columbia.

To quote the great Davy Crockett:

“You may all go to Hell, and I will go to Texas.

Too bad Sheldon Richardson couldn’t.
