Maker:  Sierra Blanca Brewing Company, Moriarty, New Mexico

Alchohol by Volume: 5.3%

IBU: 15

I was drawn to this beer immediately – almost as if it was using mind powers on me.  The label design was “out of this world”  and I figured I had nothing to lose except seven bucks and the potential to be whisked away into the mothership  where I would be used for scientific alien-experiments (or worse).  Needless to say I bought the six pack and decided to give it a try.

Let’s talk geography for a moment….  Roswell Alien Amber Ale is made in Moriarty, New Mexico at the Sierra Blanca Brewery.  Moriarty is approximately 2 1/2 hours from Roswell, New Mexico which gained its notoriety because of the alleged 1947 UFO Crash in the New Mexico desert.  If anyone knows more about alien beer than the folks at Sierra Blanca Brewery, I would be surprised…

The Amber Ale is a derivitave of the Pale Ale, with a bit lighter taste.  After pouring the contents of one beer into my glass, I noticed a cloudy medium amber color with a ton of bubbles (indicating this was a fresh beer).  Wait, was that a tinge of green color I saw too???  No, just my imagination.  After letting it sit for a minute I tasted it and was surprised.  Not in a good way, not in a bad way.  It was an ok, average beer with no real aftertaste.  I finished the rest of the beer while staring at the bottle, which, again, seemd to be using mind powers on me.

I finished my Alien Amber Ale and walked into the kitchen to debrief my wife on my beer journey only to find her shrieking because of the apparent radioactive glow emanating from my body.  Not saying anything else, I reached into the fridge and grabbed another Roswell Alien Amber Ale.
