Smith Orogbo, a highly touted 4-star edge rusher from Alief Hastings High School, has officially committed to the Texas Longhorns. Orogbo had his pick of top-tier programs but ultimately chose Texas over strong offers from Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Washington. His decision to join the Longhorns is a significant win for Texas, as Orogbo is ranked as the 115th overall prospect in the nation, the 13th best defensive lineman and the 21st top prospect in Texas according to 247 Sports.

Orogbo has a long, athletic frame with exceptional physical attributes. He has extended arm length, which he uses to keep blockers at bay and disrupt passing lanes. One of his standout traits is his explosive first step, which allows him to get off the line of scrimmage quickly and close in on the quarterback or ball carrier with remarkable speed. His ability to accelerate and reach top speed in a short distance makes him a constant threat in the backfield.

He is known for his unwavering determination on each play, whether he’s rushing the passer, stopping the run, or chasing down opponents from behind. This relentless pursuit and effort have earned him a reputation as a game-changer on the defensive side of the ball.

Orogbo has a frame that will enable him to add healthy bulk without sacrificing his athleticism, which will only enhance his ability to overpower and outmaneuver offensive linemen at the college level. His commitment to Texas brings an infusion of talent and potential to the Longhorns’ defensive line, making him the 13th recruit to join their 2025 class.
