Texas has extended an offer this week to DeSoto junior running back SaRod Baker as he heads into the state title game with the Eagles.
At 5-foot-11, 205 pounds, Baker is a three-star recruit who has been the hottest player in the Texas State Playoffs. An elite talent, Baker has been the engine driving the DeSoto offense all postseason.
Baker shows excellent vision, is shifty with elite cutback ability, and displays great patience in the hole. He runs with outstanding contact balance. Baker has a stout, powerful, compact build that makes him hard to tackle and he takes advantage of defenses by breaking arm tackles routinely. A high-level pass catcher out of the backfield, Baker has soft hands and true versatility, lining up at quarterback, receiver, and contributing on special teams, making plays on the kickoff team and he returns kicks as a returner.
His postseason production has been nothing short of record-breaking:
- Round 1: 158 yards, 3 TDs
- Round 2: 375 yards, 5 TDs
- Round 3: 202 yards, 1 TD
- Round 4: 402 yards, 7 TDs
- Round 5: 366 yards, 3 TDs
Those stats are mind boggling, including a 99-yard run to close out the Southlake Carroll Dragons out in the semifinals to lift Desoto into the state final.
Over the past few weeks, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas Tech, and Colorado have all offered. Now, Texas has officially offered one of the very best players in the state of Texas as Baker continues his historic playoff run heading into the championship game.
