The Texas Longhorns (4-2, 2-1) will face their third ranked opponent in six games on Saturday when the No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys (5-0, 2-0) take the field at Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium.  The Longhorns are 1-1 in previous contests, defeating Louisiana in the opener and falling to Oklahoma last week at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

Despite the Cowboys bringing a perfect record into the matchup, the Longhorns are favored over the Pokes by four points.

The outcome of this game is important to both programs, but for the Longhorns it is a must-win in order to keep the preseason goal of playing in a conference championship alive.  Oklahoma State is undefeated in conference play, but a loss to Texas could derail Mike Gundy’s hopes of playing in the Big 12 title game in December.

With the stakes being high, here are ten facts that will help get you ready for Texas vs. OSU.

  • Texas and Oklahoma State will play for the 36th time in history and the 22nd time in Austin.
  • The Longhorns are 26-9 all-time against the Pokes and 15-6 when playing at Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium.
  • The Cowboys have won 7 of the last 11 games between the two programs since 2010.
  • Texas has a two-game winning streak against OSU for the first time since 2008-2009.
  • Last season’s 41-34 win in Stillwater came in OT in Stillwater, courtesy of Joshua Moore’s TD reception from Sam Ehlinger.
  • Saturday’s game will be the fourth straight 11:00 AM kickoff for Texas, with the Longhorns holding a 2-1 record in previous 11:00 AM kickoff games.
  • Texas has scored 32 points in five of the last six games this season.
  • Junior QB Casey Thompson leads the Big 12 in passing efficiency (187.4), passing touchdowns (14), passing yards per completion (14.8), points per game (17) and yards per pass attempt (9.95).
  • The Longhorns lead the Big 12 in scoring offense and rank 5th nationally in scoring offense with 44.5 points per game.
  • True freshman Xavier Worthy amassed 261 receiving yards against Oklahoma which was the most ever by a player against the Sooners.  Worthy’s season total now sits at 514 receiving yards which is good enough for the fourth-most by a freshman in school history.
