The three consecutive homers marked the first time Texas has accomplished the feat since May 1, 2022, against Oklahoma State.
Ethan Mendoza and Adrian Rodriguez added solo home runs to round out the offensive showcase, with Mendoza going deep in the third inning and Rodriguez adding a laser in the eighth.
While the power numbers stood out, Texas also showed patience at the plate, drawing a season-high 17 walks. The Longhorns took advantage of Tarleton State’s struggles on the mound in the fourth inning, scoring five runs without recording a hit while drawing seven walks in the frame.
Through two regional games, Texas has outscored its opponents 35-3—the highest two-game scoring output in NCAA Tournament play in program history.
On the mound, ace Dylan Volantis (9-1) delivered another steady outing, working 6 2/3 innings while allowing just one run on three hits. The right-hander struck out seven and kept Tarleton State off balance throughout.
The Longhorns’ pitching staff added nine strikeouts on the night, pushing their season total to 619 and breaking a 41-year-old program record set in 1985.
Saturday’s win came in front of 8,276 fans, the third-largest non-exhibition crowd in the history of UFCU Disch-Falk Field, and further solidified Texas’ dominance in regional play. The Longhorns improved to 155-60-1 all-time in NCAA Regional games, including a 112-33-1 mark in Austin.
With the offense surging and pitching holding firm, Texas now sits one win away from advancing to the Super Regional round.
