Will the Alamo Bowl be the last game Manny Diaz coaches from the Texas sideline? Maybe, maybe not. What we do know is there is chatter taking place with respect to Diaz’s future not only with the Texas football program, but with other football teams - particularly Florida International University.
Heard from FIU source school has interest in MissSt DC Geoff Collins & Texas DC Manny Diaz, whose dad was Mayor of Miami.

Diaz, a Miami native, is apparently being considered for the head coaching position at FIU after athletic director Pete Garcia released Mario Cristobal after a 3-9 season. According to school sources the University is looking to have its new head football coach in place in early January. Is FIU a good fit for Diaz? Him and Florida Atlantic will need to make that decision but it is obvious that the Texas program is strongly considering a change at Defensive Coordinator. A move to FIU by Diaz would give him an opportunity to test the waters at the head coaching position while restoring the good faith folks had in him before things went south in Austin.
Other names that have been mentioned in association with the FIU head coaching position include Florida State offensive coordinator James Coley and University of North Texas offensive coordinator Mike Canales.
