The Texas Longhorns (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) maintained their No. 7 ranking in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings released on Tuesday night. In fact, the top eight teams from last week’s rankings remained the same with Ohio State keeping the top spot followed by Georgia, Michigan, Florida State, Washington, Oregon, Texas and Alabama. Rounding out the Top-10 were Ole Miss and Penn State.

While Oregon is ranked higher than Texas, the Longhorns have more wins over current teams ranked in the CFP Top-25. The Longhorns have beaten #8 Alabama in Tuscaloosa, #16 Kansas and #25 Kansas State. Oregon’s best win was at #18 Utah.

There is nothing about Oregon’s resume that should put them ahead of Texas.

And if the argument is the eye test, Texas should immediately cancel all future marquee non-conference games and schedule Portland State instead.

Texas travels to Fort Worth this weekend to take on the TCU Horned Frogs (4-5, 2-4). TCU has beaten the Longhorns in seven out of the last ten contests.
