And the wait is complete — the 2026 season schedule for Texas Football is officially official. The SEC announced the schedule for its league lineup Thursday night, finishing a slate that keeps the Longhorns at home more often than not.
Texas hosts nine games in the Lone Star State, seven of which are inside Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The SEC journey starts Sept. 26 with the Horns on their first-ever trip to Neyland Stadium in Tennessee. It’s the fourth meeting ever recorded between Texas and the Volunteers — the first since the Cotton Bowl in 1969 and the Longhorns have their grip on the series by a 2–1 margin.
After a week off, Texas moves right into its annual showdown against Oklahoma in the 123rd Allstate Red River Rivalry Oct. 10, back at the Cotton Bowl. The Horns also have a 65–51–5 record in the famous series.
The first quarter of October quickly heats up in Austin.
The Longhorns will face Florida (Oct. 17), Ole Miss (Oct. 24) and Mississippi State (Oct. 31) in a three-game homestand that could set the tone for a possible run there. Almost every single historic match is Texas’s lead: 3–1–1 to Florida, 6–2 to Ole Miss, 3–2 to Mississippi State. Ole Miss is back in Austin for the first time since 2013, and the Bulldogs come there after losing to UT in the last two seasons.
Then comes the road grind.
Texas opens November with a series of trips to Missouri and then LSU, first to Missouri (Nov. 7) then to LSU (Nov. 14). The ‘Horns and Tigers last met in 2017, with Texas holding an 18–6 series advantage. The LSU visit, for its part, comes for the first time in Baton Rouge for Texas since 1953. That tight all-time series is now in favor of the Longhorns at 9–8–1.
The last home game is a throwback classic. Arkansas returns to Austin on Nov. 21 for their 82nd run. Texas continues to lead the old-school rivalry, 58–23 all-time, with 30-11 at home. And then the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown returns to College Station on Nov. 27, reigniting on of the greate rivalries in college football. Texas once again has the upper hand, 78-37-5, and a 26-22-2 edge in Kyle Field and has won the last two between the two programs.
Texas opens the year with a run of nonconference games — all at home — before entering SEC play:
Sept. 5 – Texas State. Sept. 12 – Ohio State. Sept. 19 – UTSA. Texas has not faced Texas State since 1930 (a 36–0 victory), and the Ohio State rematch is their third straight season going head to head with the Buckeyes. UTSA rounds out nonconference play in Austin, with Texas topping that series 2-0. From SEC road tests to rivalry showdowns at DKR to game-changers, 2026 seems destined to be packed with storylines at every point.
