Sean Miller has wasted no time hitting the transfer portal hard following a Sweet 16 appearance in his inaugural season in Austin. The Longhorns started the weekend with a commitment from former Colorado G Isaiah Johnson and ended the weekend with a pledge from former TCU standout David Punch.
Punch ranks among the top frontcourt players to enter the portal and will likely slot into the starting lineup alongside returning center Matas Vokietaitis. The Harker Heights native had a strong end to the 2026 season, registering 24 points and 10 rebounds in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament against Kansas. In the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, Punch grabbed 13 rebounds and added 16 points in a victory against Ohio State.
The additions of Johnson and Punch out of the portal, along with the return of Vokietaitis, give Texas a very strong nucleus as Sean Miller and staff look to fill out the rest of the roster. The Longhorns will also welcome 5-star guard Austin Goosby to campus this summer. The younger brother of Trevor Goosby, starting LT for the Longhorns football team, figures to take on a key role from day 1.
