After a disappointing loss to No. 23 Ole Miss in Oxford earlier this week, Texas Basketball (14-7, 3-5 SEC) faces another road challenge on Saturday in Baton Rouge. The Longhorns and LSU Tigers (12-8, 1-6 SEC) will meet for the 33rd time, the first in Pete Maravich Assembly Center since 1998. LSU leads the all-time series 20-12, but Texas took the last meeting 96-85 in 2023.
As February gets underway, wins are critically important for Rodney Terry’s team who sits as a “last four in” in Joe Lunardi’s most recent release of Bracketology. LSU has lost three straight and looks to get back on the winning side with a win over Texas.
True freshman Tre Johnson, who received SEC Freshman of the Week honors on Monday, leads the Texas offense and the SEC in scoring with 19.0 points per game. He scored 22 points in the Longhorns’ narrow loss to Ole Miss on Wednesday.
LSU’s Cam Carter led the Tigers in scoring in their midweek loss to Auburn with 24 points.
