AUSTIN —  It only took three games for Longhorn nation to learn about Shortstop C.J. Hinojosa. It took only three more for them to love him.

Hinojosa lined a walk-off single into centerfield in the bottom of the ninth, as No. 24 Texas upended Nebraska 4-3, at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Saturday.  It’s the second win against the Cornhuskers in as many days. Texas will look to sweep their former rivals on Sunday at noon.

“My mindset was to go up there and clear my head,” said the freshman shortstop Hinojosa. “I have had four at-bats before that, two were good and two were bad. I went up there with a clear mind and had fun with it.”

Weiss opened the ninth with a one-out double into right center. After the intentional pass to Payton and McElroy, Hinojosa smacked a 1-1 pitch as Weiss scored the game-winning run.

Dillon Peters went six innings, giving up one run (one unearned) on six hits. Chad Hollingsworth (2-0) came in and got the last out of the eighth inning to notch the win.

Nebraska moved to 0-5 on the young season, while Texas went to 5-1.
