The University of Texas has officially clinched the Lone Star Showdown Trophy, sponsored by Cotton Holdings, after sweeping Texas A&M in baseball at UFCU Disch-Falk Field last weekend. After the three-game sweep, the Longhorns hold an 11-5 advantage in the point standings with just 2.0 points remaining, making it impossible for the Aggies to come from behind and claim victory.
The Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown features every head-to-head sporting matchup between Texas and Texas A&M for the season. The Longhorns have claimed the trophy in seven of nine all-time seasons in which the rivalry series trophy has been presented.
Remaining matchups between the two programs this season include Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field at the SEC Championships on May 15-17.
