Your Expectations for Next Season

My question to you is, what are your realistic expectations regarding this upcoming season's W-L record? Yes we'd all like to win out and bring home another NC-- and I hope that happens, but realistically what do you think?

People's expectations for the HC position were all over the place. So I just wanted to gauge what the general consensus was here at HS.

Beat OU, win 9 games or more, Offensive fireworks, Defensive beatdowns.. .....

I count 5 tossups. BYU, UCLA, OU, OSU, and BU. Go 3-2 or better and it's a successful season.

We have quite a few question areas, especially at QB. New systems on both sides of the ball and culture. Next season will be a bit of a feeling out / learning process for both the coaches and the players.

What I do think is that our teams will be tougher both physically and mentally.

I could see around 8 wins and be OK with that. As long as we start seeing the culture change and a team that is heading in the right direction. Anything more than 8 wins will be a bonus.

Unfortunately I think we will have some fans that panic if we only get 8 wins.

My expectations for next season aren't really based on our record. I want to see a football team next year that is gutting out every play on both sides of the ball. I want them to look hungry and play their hearts out. If they lose, I want it to be close and feel like we were beaten in spite of a great performance. I want to see young men responding well to a new head coach and working hard for him.

This is a big program change. I don't know what to expect for our record next year. But if what I want as stated above comes to pass, the wins should follow as time goes on.

I'll get scalded for this, but we could go 0-11 next year (well not really) but as long as we're in every game, knocking off helmets, laying the wood, scoring, and if we lose every game by one, I'd be satisfied knowing that we're back to tough Texas football and gone are the days of 28+ blowouts in the 4 loss era. Watch out Year 2: TexasStrong!

9-3, competitive in the losses.

A lot less missed tackles, less dropped balls, OL/DL playing physical, not getting out coached.

I'd like to see eight wins, but I'll settle for an obvious improvement in the global attitude and the players hungering to PLAY. Let's see how enthusiastic CS can be, how motivating he can be.

I'm honestly a lot more excited to see what 2015 brings, and that would be the case regardless of who was selected for HC.

My expectation...well, I KNOW what next season is going to be like. It will be FUN again!

I will look forward to game day days in advance, wearing the colors proudly from my cap to my shoes, flying the Longhorn flag outside my home, listening to 4 hours of pre-game on the radio, tuning into College Gameday every Saturday morning, arriving early to watch the team take the field and warm-up, being loud and supportive during the game and then listening to the post-game shows on the drive home.

Watching the Longhorn network all week...especially Total Access. Once again I will live and breathe UT football...just like it used to be. All will be right in the universe.

...our cupboards are a bit bare. however, passion, will, toughness, respect are free attributes...

My dream would be an undefeated season. My expectations is for them to play hard and make us a proud fan base again.

Next Christmas I want to be able to sing my favorite Christmas song.

Hook 'Em Horns, Hook 'Em Horns

Hook 'Em all the way,

What a ball, to win it all

UT is here to stay!

he quickly turned around Louisville that by year three they were playing in a bcs game, that's Louisville. At texas ill go 7 or 8 wins with a commitment to defense and by year 2, 9 to 10 wins and a bcs game possibly. With year three being the start of a ten win era again

I need to see how rest of the staff fleshes out...especially the offensive coordinator position. I also need to know who is going to be starting at QB. It's going to be difficult to get a realistic/accurate read on this team until we've seen them play a legit opponent. It looks like we've got a couple of them on our early season OOC schedule (BYU & UCLA) and a couple more in our early conference schedule (Baylor & OU). By the end of the OU game we will have faced 4 legit opponents in our first 6 games of the season. I'm not sure I remember the last time that happened. Coach Strong will be tested early and often.

Yeah we have a pretty rough schedule next year. That's good though. You can't tell how good you really are playing cream puffs.
