Derek Carr, QB Fresno State.

:)

I hope they'd take Clowney but my guess is they'd go with Bridgewater. I'm also always a fan of trading out of #1 for multi 1st rounders.

Thoughts?

If I'm Houston, I negotiate with Atlanta to trade down to the 4th Pick. With how desperate they are for Clowney, that could also net me a 2014 2nd Round Pick and Atlanta's 2015 1st Round Pick. With that pick, I select either Terry Bridgewater or Jake Matthews. If I took Bridgewater in the 1st Round, I select James Hurst (OT North Carolina) and Jackson Jeffcoat (DE Texas) in the 2nd Round. If I took Matthews in the 1st Round, I select Tajh Boyd (QB Clemson) and Jackson Jeffcoat (DE Texas) in the 2nd Round.

That would be best case scenario obviously. I wonder what Atlanta would give up to bring in Clowney.

if we can trade down a few spots we should, unless one of the QBs is just too good to pass up(which doesnt seem to be the case right now). If we trade to #4, we should not expect to get of the the top 2 QBs bc Jville and Minnesota will probably go QB also. Someone like Barr with #4 would be great also.

Atlanta giving up 2014#4 and 2014#thirtysomething to move up 3 spots is about right, not 2 first rounders and a second. But if that does happen and we dont go QB with #4, then we need to trade back up into first round and get someone like Hundley, Carr, etc.

There are a lot of holes to fill and maybe more after the season. Texans needs to do well with FA also.

Considering the fact that they have the WORST secondary in all of organized football, I would hope that they would spend at least the first two picks on d- backs.

i think clowney is gonna be a bust...
Clowney will go as far as Clowney will push himself to go. He has all the tools to be one of the best in the game but I think he lacks the motivation and desire to be the best. If he goes to a team where a coach can serve as an inspiration and driving force, Clowney could be great. But I think it's much more likely that he takes his money, makes his appearances and ends up being a moderately above decent player throughout his career. Unfortunately, people have blown Clowney up into this football phenom that could never live up to the asinine standards people have for him.

Man the Texans and Falcons are going to be in good shape next year considering how much talent already on each roster and how they are going to be able to add to that talent with top 5 picks in each round during this upcoming draft.

Clowney doesn't fit the Texans well. He's not good enough in space to be a 3-4 OLB, and he's not big enough (or good enough, a lot of which stems from lack of consistent effort) against the run to play 3-4 DE. He's a 4-3 DE all the way. If he were drafted by the Texans, he'd have to play 3-4 OLB, and I just don't see the change-of-direction agility required for that position. But the Texans drafted Brooks Reed to play LB, so anything is possible on that front.

Would much rather draft a guy like Van Noy or possibly Anthony Barr (despite a relatively disappointing season) if we're going that route. Wouldn't mind a Louis Nix to give us a rock up front either.

I like the idea of trading out of the pick for multiple first rounders, as I don't see Bridgewater as a top pick type talent. Browns could be a good trading partner. As would the Rams. Wouldn't mind picking up Derek Carr if he's still available later, but #1 is probably far too high for him.

Trade that number one pick and try to turn it into two.

Bite the bullet and force Schaub to renegotiate or cut him and take your lumps for stupidity.

Take a QB and an elite DB in Round 1.

The Texans don't need a QB. They need a defense that forces TO's and gets off the field more than once in the 2nd half of games. They also need a severe upgrade along the OL. Clowney would fit find opposite JJ in a 4-3,as the new coaching staff may not elect to run a 3-4.
