Same here.I'm good with him redshirting last year. I would have liked him to have started the Notre Dame game.

Actually, I'm good with the way things played out. With Watson calling the plays, Heard would have been handcuffed instead of showcased. Shaking his confidence at least, and getting him hurt at worst. O-line looks better since that game, giving him a much better chance.I'm good with him redshirting last year. I agree. I'm thinking that it all worked out for the best with how it all played out.Actually, I'm good with the way things played out. The score may have been closer, but the outcome would have been the same IMHO, still a bad loss.
Tho we ended up losing to Cal, Heard still came out a winner, and that loss did nothing to blemish his record or his confidence.
I don't think Heard fit what watson was trying to do. Watson wanted to run a west coast dink and dunk style (nothing wrong with that) and Watson may have been right. However, it is my belief that you know what you recruited or has been recruited. It is the coaches job to "fit" his offensive style that compliments what your QB does best. That being said, when you have a talented blazer that can make plays with his feet, one would think you would want to go with a spread style offense that allows for your QB to make plays with his feet.
Defending a QB that can run/throw, puts a tremendous amount of pressure on a defense. They have to read and react, which slows their momentum tremendously. Furthermore, it makes you have to take someone out of coverage to spy the QB. If you don't, you pay. Heards biggest asset is his feet AT THIS TIME. Wait until he sees the field and and can go through his progressions. He is electric, dynamic and those guys are hard to find and even more difficult to recruit, because so many spread offenses demand them.
The ability to run is what made VY great. I believe this kid has the ability to get much better, he just needs more seat time. This is Heards best offense which compliments his ability much more than a west coast style. Kudos to Coach Strong for making the move.
I think Swoopes will struggle in any offense because he lacks confidence. So here's a question to ponder......if for some reason Swoopes comes in, do you think he does better in this style offense and under Norvel, or is he done???
I would argue that he would do better under this offense when your progressions are simplified. I am not sure I like his tendency to hand off when in doubt, but I think the reads and progressions are a lot simpler under Norvel.
I am by no means saying he should start, I definitely think we have found our QB that will carry us over the next 3-4 years, but just wondering what you guys think.
Do you think Ty's tough enough to play TE? I don'tSwoopes really should consider moving to TE because his best days as a QB are over. His size would give Heard or Locksley a big target.

Taking a hit and delivering one are two different things entirely. I doubt Swoopes would be much of a blocker, but maybe he'd surprise me.He took some tough hits as QB since he couldn't outrun the defense so yes, I do.
