Whats the fuss with Hurtt?

Because of the show cause the only school Hurtt can coach at till the end of 2014 is Louisville per the NCAA. If the new coach at Louisville doesn't want him he is just out if a job for a while.

Here is the story that I found concerning the story and background on Hurtt. No way in hell he steps foot on Campus.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2013/10/22/miami-ncaa-louisville-sanctions-penalties-clint-hurtt/3149781/

Hurtt will be banned from any recruiting activity during the rest of this year and through the spring of 2014.

— U of L is freezing his compensation for two years. Additionally, Hurtt will not receive performance raises or bonuses from May 20, 2013, through May 20, 2015.

Great, now where does this leave UT. Is Strong still coming to texas without Hurtt?

Yes.

Which is why I don't like bringing in Strong. He allows a known cheater on his staff. I understand people can change but Strong's reputation is tarnished for being associated with him.

I'll be honest, not that it matters, but I love CS's loyalty to his guy.

Also, don't think for a second that NS doesn't do the EXACT THINGS Hurtt was accused of doing. If you want a staff with integrity, a staff who doesn't find ways around the pay to play rules, then you don't want NS either. Miami isn't the only school breaking the rules, they just weren't as good at hiding it, and I guarantee Hurtt was just a small cog in a big wheel.

Anyway, #TexasStrong. I'm all in.

Exactly my feeling as well. And if Strong ever decides to dump the baggage (Hurtt) I would fear reprisal against Strong from Hurtt while Strong is at UT could lead to ncaa trouble for Texas. I want to support Strong and I understand most successful programs including Saban are skirting the rules. But Patterson & UT are hanging their necks way out on this hire.

I've been a Texas fan for 45 years and what I see coming with this hire will take some time for me to get comfortable with.

If I were in Patterson's shoes I would continue to prepare for the coach which will follow Strong. If Strong comes onboard, I think he's going to jump ship when Florida cans Muschamp after next season.

I want Strong to succeed but I'm struggling with these concerns. I hope this works out well.

He wasn't just accused, he was found guilty. Holler when Nick is found guilty and you will have a leg to stand on.

The oxygen must be pretty thin way up there on your high horse. Nick Saban has a terrible reputation for breaking the pay-to-play rules, he's just smart enough to make sure he's got a fall guy... and never having been convicted doesn't mean somebody's character isn't transparent as all hell. Just ask OJ. Or Casey Anthony. Or Jodi Arias. Or whoever.

"Holler."
