I understood Horn Sports was representated.  Today is Tuesday and last Fridays recruits have had time to matriculate and start committing - or not.  IT and other boards are saying at least one more prospect is on the verge.  Nobody is saying who it may be.

SirHornsalot - it is time for you and Darrell to dig that info.

On another totally unrelated note of no interest to anyone but myself - I just completed a nice little visit to the hill country - Llano, Fredricksburg, Austin and Johnson City.  Helluva good time and I'm negotiating for some dirt as well

I'm going to guess that "prospect" is Lampkin.

Lampkin is dropping hints that he's Texas.

Jefferson is visiting this weekend.

The staff has already posted 2 insider scoops about UTL (one in the UTL thread and another was it's own thread.) That's not to say that HornSports is done with UTL/recruiting, but we threw ourselves straight into Media Days after those 2 intel posts were made.

We just got back from Dallas tonight and will definitely start digging for you.

Yes, this was great info.  However, my understanding was no recruit was allowed to commit in that type of venue - NCAA rules or something.  But proper time has passed and, by now, we should have started to hear a few things.

Dang it, I just remembered the Big 12 media days are running.  That would explain why Strong and Co. have not extended offers yet.

My bad for starting this thread too early.

Okay, Matt, you guys are off the hook. :)

Sorry, but I have to ask.. But what the Heck is a UTL....

Maybe I've been at a baseball field too long....

Since I am not an insider .. . .love the hill country .. .we're heading down one week in Oct . ..

But sadly the cedar kills my wife. . . in fact we couldn't make the spring game a year ago because I had to take her to the emergency room for breathing treatments..

:(

Bummer .. . I'd be down there in a heart beat otherwise. . .

"Under the Lights" .. .

Pretty sure Florida started it .. .it's a one night "camp" where they bring in the top prospects and work out under the lights at DKR.

That was what last Friday's camp was called. . . . .

Good Lord!  She is THAT allergic?  Sounds like my wife and lagustrums.

Well, if she is allergic to cedar, then the hill country is definitly out.

SFG - No, i'm not actually buying land - just acquiring a fairly large hunting lease.  Which is damned near as expensive as buying the land.  The ranchers out there have gotten smart.  They can make more money selling leases than raising cattle.

yes, she is that allergic. . .sucks to be me sometimes. . .

Though we have found some nice land north of DFW, this side of the Red River. . .

Now this will really suck but Easter OK and Western Arkie are really flacking nice .. . .

doc - where is the lease? If you need hunters, I'm looking for a spot.....

And if we play our cards right, we might be able to get guys like Slim and NTH to join us!  B)

where abouts is your lease if you don't mind telling? sounds like you're close to my neck of the woods.

If you invite Slim. . .hide the scotch. . . .

Jefferson doesn't seem like the type that will commit early. I think Malik said he would commit in December or January, I bet it's around that time.
Speaking to a top recruiting person from one of the other sites UT has a very very good chance to land Malik. He really isn't fazed by the hype going on at Aggie. If Texas gets him and Aggie slips I would expect another big name or two to join him.

Matt - The lease is an old Brown & Root tract - near Llano - with 16 elevated stands and feeders..  It's 4500 a/c's off county road 309 and has a really nice spring fed creek running through it - that actually still has water.  Myself and 3 colleagues have bid on it for ourselves and our families.

Of course the place is loaded with white tails and turkeys.  B&R brought 500 turkey chicks in for about 5 years - before they unloaded all their leases and consolidated into the one by the YO ranch.  We are told the lease has been stocked with exotics like Axis and Sika deer; Nilgai and Blackbuck antelope and Mouflon and Aoudad sheep.  We didn't see any, but we are guaranteed they are there.

My kids and grandkids like to hunt deer, but not me.  I don't care for venison and I just like the deer.  I do like eating wild turkey and quail, but for the most part I  don't like killing the critters.  I just enjoy watching them.

My kids, however, are cold blooded murderers and would lay waste to every beautiful animal if the state would let them. :)

This is some of the proprty and it goes to yonder hills.
