Tyler Moore Update

As you guys know we've kept up with Tyler Moore's recruitment regularly here on Horn Sports. We updated you in Burnt Ends on Monday that Moore was a "maybe" for visiting Austin for the West Virginia game this weekend.  It doesn't look like that will happen for various reasons.  HornSports talked with a source that knows the particulars of Moore's recruitment and there are several dynamics in play with respect to his recruitment.
Moore holds offers from roughly 10 schools, including Colorado, Oregon State, BYU, and Illinois.  Purdue has been knocking on his door A LOT lately, as well.

Joe Wickline and Texas appear to have taken the gas off of the recruitment of Moore, at least temporarily.  Conversely, Moore is looking at other programs and will be taking official visits to Minnesota (November 15th) and Colorado (November 29th).  The key issue is timing for Moore.  He will graduate from North Shore Senior High (early) in December and ideally would be on the roster for his chosen school beginning in January.

We were told that there is less than a 50% chance of Moore landing at Texas.  That certainly could change, but both Wickline and Moore would need to reengage and pick back up where things appeared to be headed a month ago.

A school that is really high on Moore right now is BYU.  Again, we told you Moore received an offer from the Cougars while walking back to his dad's truck after the Longhorns lost to the Cougars in Austin.  Moore's interest appears to be picking up in BYU and you can expect the Cougars to be a major player in his recruitment.

Colleges close for Christmas break the 3rd week in December.  Expect Moore to make his announcement soon.

Let's tell it like it is.  Let's not beat around the bush .

Tyler was offered a grayshirt by Texas that may or may not  materialize into a immediate offer.

If Tyler had a immediate offer, he would already be committed to Texas.

Tyler has done an outstanding job of reshaping his body.    You rarely see an athlete reshape his body in High School to the extent Tyler has.

Of all the kids we are recruiting. I'm pulling for this kid the most.

Texas is slow playing him but, Texas has been upfront and honest about it.

In the end, I hope it plays out for both parties.

Talked to Tyler's dad earlier and Tyler made it to Minneapolis for the Minnesota game today (snow and all).

Also heard that Connor Mayes' (center from Van Alstyne) brother is Tyler's host while there.

Go back and look at Mayes' offer sheet. He chose Minnesota over some pretty good programs.

I was told Moore's visit went EXTREMELY well at Minnesota. He was very impressed.

After hearing what I heard today, look for Tyler to sign his NLI with the Golden Gophers.  Unless things have changed in the last few hours, there has been very little communication between Moore and Texas.  

He's really high on Minnesota.  BYU and Texas State will be visiting Moore in-home sometime soon but Minnesota looks to be his school.

On another note, Tyler was named as a finalist for the Touchdown Club of Houston's Offensive Player of the Year.   He joins a handful of other players for the honor, including Texas commit OL Toby Weathersby.

Guys, I trust Wickline and have for years.  I coveted him when he was coaching at OSU.  As much as we all like Tyler, if Wick feels that Tyler is not the best fit here, I'm going to wish Tyler the best with his chosen school.

Tyler has worked hard and deserves the best.  All will work out for the best in the end, much like it did for us, when we hired Strong!
